"No I did not hitch-hike. A guy picked me up and is driving me to the gas station. There's a difference." I said, making sure she wouldn't miss the sarcasm in my voice. I could hear Henry chuckling softly beside me.
"Allyssa Danes! Please tell me your joking and that you decided to walk! Are you crazy! What if he's a serial killer then where would you be?" Vanessa had always been very protective of me. I could understand why she asked if I was crazy, because what I was doing was extremely stupid, and very unlike me. But for some reason I trusted him, and I wanted to know why. It was just something I couldn't explain. Guess I'm not the only one that watches to much Criminal Minds.
"Well if you find me dead on the side of the road you can put 'I told you so' on my headstone!" sarcasm dripped from my voice. I hated it when they thought that I couldn't take care of myself. I mean they were the ones that taught me how! I thought with a skowl.
I heard her take a deep breath before she replied "I know, you can take care of yourself but that's besides the point. Do you realized how stupid, no not stupid, idiotic that sounds?" she said.
"Yeah I do. Trust me I do, I got to go we're at the gas station. I'll explain when I get back to the apartment. Okay? I love you Van." I said as Henry turned into the gas station.
"I love you too, Adds. I just have one question, though." she paused for about 15 seconds before continuing, "How hot is he?" she asked me, even though I couldn't see her I knew that there was a smirk on her face.
"Shut up." I said as I laughed while I hung up on her. I could feel a little bit of a blush on my face. I turned to look at Henry, and said "Thanks, for letting me take that, it was my roommate Vanessa. She wanted to know where I was."
"No problem, people tend to worry." he said, as we got out of his car. We walked in silence to the door, which I couldn't help but notice that he opened for me.
"Thanks." I said, "Speaking of people worrying, do you have someone waiting for you to get home?" I asked trying to learn a little more about him, like if he had a roommate, or a girlfriend, or even a boyfriend. Though I seriously doubt that's the case, but I just wanted to be sure. Purely for curiosity's sake, of course. I mean, why would I want to know for any other reason. Wow, even in my head that sounded pathetic.
"No, my brother who is my roommate, is currently at work and will not be home for a while. So, to answer your question nobody is waiting for me to get home." I couldn't help but notice the way he said nobody, like he was trying to enforce the fact that he was single. Well that was what I was getting from him anyways. Besides he seems like to much of a gentlemen to cheat.
"I go get the water, you go get the coolant?" Henry asked me.
"That's good with me." I said trying to find the right aisle. When I found it, it took me about two seconds to find the coolant. Then I went to find Henry which wasn't that hard. When I was walking over to him I finally got a good look at him. He is tall probably about 6'2, his hair is a really dark brown. I didn't notice it before but you could see a little bit of a tattoo on his right arm, and he had muscles but he wasn't overly muscular. So all in all, not to bad to look at, I thought with a smile.
When I stopped checking him out, no not checking him out just......... looking, wow I was sounding pathetic again. I shook my head, because I was really starting to think that I was crazy, maybe Vanessa was right, I should get out more. I walked back over to him and asked if he got the water. When he nodded that he had, I grabbed the bottle out of his hands, and walk up to the register then put the stuff down.
"$11.83." the cashier said, he barely looking up from his magazine. So much for customer service. I handed him 12 dollars, then told him to keep the change, before turning around and walking to the door with Henry in front of me. Again he opened the door for me, at which I couldn't help the small smile that appeared on my face.
