I'm having a bad day. No, on second thought, it was horrible.
First, I was late to work. I, Allyssa Danes, am never late, and I hate it when I am. I didn't get in trouble with my boss, but I was told never to let it happen again. (I was only four minutes late but still...)
Second, as walked to my car after work I managed to spilled my Diet Coke on my white blouse, and it went all the way down to my skirt, making it look like I wet myself. Luckily I was the only one in the parking lot, so I didn't have to explain how the hell it went all the way down to my skirt. Because I honestly had no idea. I looked in my car and I found a pair of old ripped up jeans and a faded black tank top.
Third, my car broke down. Well technically it overheated, but anyways, I've been sitting in the back seat my car, waiting for it to cool down. About 45 minutes in when my engine cooled down enough I saw that my radiator was out coolant. Which basicly meant that the stuff that help keep your car for overheating was gone. I didn't have any coolant or water in my car and it was hot as hell in this September afternoon. And to top it all off my phone didn't have any service so I couldn't call Vanessa and ask her to come and pick me up. For the past 10 minutes I have been debating wether to just walk to the nearest gas station. Which was 5 miles away. That wouldn't have been a problem if I didn't have heels on. I would take them off but I'm pretty sure there was a car accident because there was a lot of broken glass. With my luck I would have stepped on a piece, no matter how hard I tried not to. Plus the pavement brunted the hell out of my feet.
Not one single car has stop to see what was wrong. And I couldn't help but get a little pissed off, okay really pissed.
But what can I say I'm impatient. Its been an hour and I had run out of things to do. I read and graded all of students essays. They were pretty good a couple of missed spelt words, but other than that all the kids did good. I taught 10th and 11th grade English to kids at Coal Heights high school.
Suddenly, I heard the familiar slam of a car door, and I rushed to get out of my car. When I first caught a glimps of the man, the first thing that popped into my head was 'Holy Shit! that guy is hot!' His hair was dark brown and he was wearing jean and a green t-shirt that really hugged his muscles.
"Are you okay miss?" the man questioned.
"My car broke down, well it overheated. Do you have any water?" I asked, my words were fast and they ran together. I hope that he would so that I could go home. Because now that I think about it, I'm really hungry.
"I didn't know, but shouldn't you wait until your car cools down?" he asked me walking back to his car to I guess look for some water.
"Oh, I've been here for a hour with my car turned off. I think that its fine." I told him. My words were sharper than I meant for them to be, but he got the point.
"Why didn't you call for someone if you've been here for an hour?" he asked me still digging in his car.
"I tried but my phone is doesn't have any service and I was just about ready to start walking to the nearest gas station." I flushed a little bit, realizing that I was rambling.
He looked up from his car with a small apologetic smile on his face, "My name is Henry Callahan. I'm sorry, miss but I don't have any water."
Henry, the name fit him. I thought with a small smile. Though now that I think about it I really shouldn't be smiling, this guy was my last hope, and he just told me that he couldn't help.
"Damn it. Well.. I guess I'm walking but thanks for stopping to help." I said with a look of determination.
"I could drive you, to the gas station." Henry asked me stopping me in my tracks, "If you want." he said rubbing the back of his neck, looking nervous.
"I don't know. Are you sure its okay? I mean don't you want to go home?" I asked.
"No, it not a problem, and going home can wait a while." he replied, a smirk graced his face.
"Well if you're sure." I said after studying him for a few seconds.
I walked over to the other side of his car, but he got there before me and he opened the door for me. I smiled at him, it seems like he's a little bit of a gentlemen. Or a really big gentlemen if you think about it, since he was giving me a ride.
Later I would realize that accpting this ride would change my life forever.
