"Genevieve Parker a three year old girl left abandoned after her parents were tragically murdered. Reporters want to find out who did this but will they find their killer? I'm Rose Dawn and this is Seattle news at six." The reporter said from the television.
As Genevieve sat on the floor crying her eyes out only knowing mommy and daddy are gone she is left with her aunt Sarah and uncle Peter until the social security leaves.
"We can't abandon the poor thing Peter she's a child!" her aunt screamed.
"We have no choice Sarah! We barely have enough money to feed ourselves how are we going to feed a three year old girl!" He screamed back.
Genevieve slowly walked to them "auntie may I go to bed now?" She said sleepily. "Not just yet pumpkin the nice people will take you to go to a very happy place" her aunt said with fake enthusiasm. "Will mommy and daddy be there?" She questioned. Her aunts heart broke at the sound of that the poor child not even four yet just had her parents brutally murdered. "No baby." She says picking up the small child gently. "Mommy and daddy are in a happy place."
She smiled weakly years streaming down her face. "If mommy and daddy are happy why are you crying?" She asked "Because since they're happy they're gone baby girl." She whispers to the child.
Genevieve was about to respond when three sharp knocks alerted the small gathering. Sarah slowly opened the door still carrying genevieve. "Hi you must be the social worker?"
Sarah says with a small smile examining the woman she was average height about 5'5 maybe, hair pulled into a tight bun with her makeup elegantly done and a blue pencil skirt with a matching blazer over a ruffled blouse. "Yes I am" she smiled and held out her hand "I'm Veronica Jenkins and you must be little Genevieve parker." She said to Genevieve. "Yes I am.."
Genevieve spoke softly her piercing blue eyed gaze looking at the woman as if she could see her soul. "Cute kid. I believe she's coming with me if you would just sign this paper releasing her into our custody we'll be on our way to California." She spoke to Sarah. Sarah hugged Genevieve with all her strength crying into the little girls shoulder.
"You'll come and visit right auntie sarah." Genevieve said with a quivering lip. "Of course dear and ill right you letters every week since you aren't allowed to have cellphones there." She spoke softly to the little one. "Ok auntie I love you and tell uncle I love him too."
She wrapped her small arms around Sarah's neck and kissed her cheek. "Time to go little one we will miss our flight." Veronica said after about a minute and holding out her hand for the little girl to take. Genevieve looked at it wondering if she could trust her then decided she could and grabbed her hand.
They walked out the door, Genevieve only having her teddy bear and a little luggage in one hand and holding hands with the pretty lady in the other. She turned out once they were outside of the house looking one more time at her old home before waving goodbye to her aunt and getting in the back of the car. "Don't worry little one you'll be alright."
Veronica said from the driver's seat. Genevieve didn't reply instead looked out the window. She could have sworn she say her mommy and daddy outside of a building right now but they went away. 'It was probably only your imagination genevieve' She thought to herself.
For a three year old girl Genevieve knew she was smarter than most people her age and also very different. Sometimes she would make friends that no one else could see. Everyone says they're imaginary but they seemed so real. Genevieve continued to look out the window slowing drifting off into a dream-less sleep...
