WHEN HE FIRST heard her sing, it was the most alluring, captivating, and enthralling thing he had ever heard. Time had practically stood still when the sound reached his ears, and even though he hadn't planned on entering the harmony cafe that afternoon, he walked through the doors in a sort of trance as her voice rang in his ears.

The inside of the small coffee shop gave off an air of coziness, the warm atmosphere causing his shoulders to relax as the familiar smell of coffee filled his nose. The rain had dampened his hair and blurred his glasses, but he payed it no notice as he searched the cafe for the source of the beautiful voice he had heard.

In the corner sat a girl with a guitar rested on her lap, her eyes closed as her voice rang out loud and clear and thick with emotion. Her voice wasn't exactly perfect; it was cracked, broken in places and sometimes off key, but to him it was the most remarkable thing he had ever had the pleasure of hearing. It was hoarse, yet soothing—a stunning mixture of beautiful and broken.
