A/N Hey guys. this is my first ever fanfic so please don't judge. I take no credit for pictures because I found them all online. Tell me in the comments if I made any mistakes or got my facts wrong. No hate, please! Bye!
Albus waved from the window, as the train sped away from the station and towards his fifth year at Hogwarts. He sat back down when it turned the corner and blocked the view of his family. This was the first time, since the first year, that he had waved, as his relationship with Harry was finally on the mend.
He looked over at his best friend Scorpius and smiled. For some reason, it was slightly awkward.
"So. How was your holiday?" Albus asked.
"You mean since the last time you saw me, which was, may I remind you, three days ago?" Scorpius replied with a grin. Suddenly all the tension and awkwardness melted away as the two friends laughed.
"Well yeah. As far as I know, something drastic could've happened!" Albus joked sarcastically.
Suddenly, the Trolley Witch walked past their compartment. She was about to walk in and ask if they wanted anything, but then realised who they were and walked off with a glare. They heard her say "You can jump out a window again for all I care." She was still muttering but they didn't hear anything else.
They fell about laughing as they remembered what happened last year.
"Well, looks like we're going hungry," Albus said when they'd stopped laughing like idiots.
"Nope! I came prepared!" Scorpius pulled out a bag of Pumpkin Pasties, Pepper Imps, Bertie Bott's Every Flavour Beans and about twenty Chocolate Frogs. He threw his brown-haired friend a bunch. They talked about school for a while.
"O.W.L.S this year. That's gonna be fun." Albus said, rolling his eyes.
"It shouldn't be too difficult." Scorpius tried to reason with him
"For you maybe. For me? Oh well, I'll just copy your notes"
"One day I won't be there and you'll fail everything." He joked.
"Well that, Scorp, is where you're wrong. Because, if you go, I'll find you and force you to take notes so I can copy them." Albus smiled.
"'Scorp'?" He asked.
"Oh. Sorry. I..um...didn't realise I'd said that. Won't happen again." Albus' voice was so rushed that I struggled to get all the words out.
"Albus. Breath, calm, slow down. I like it, it's cool." He grinned. His smile seemed to light up the entire compartment, filling the corners with the glow.
Albus could feel his cheeks heat up and turn red.
Just then, they were interrupted again by the compartment door opening and Rose, Albus' cousin, walked in. She had changed quite a bit over the holidays, and it was a rather good change. Her once bushy hair was now more controlled and sleek and was held back in a top-knot. She seemed to have a certain elegance and grace as she walked and her muggle clothes complimented her figure and face. Her eyelashes were thicker and darker, her eyelids had a tinge of silver that brought out her eyes and her face was sculpted. When the light touched her face, the boys could see that she had some sort of shimmer on her cheekbones and the tip of her nose.
"Wow..." Scorpius barely breathed the word, but somehow Rose still heard. Albus thought she'd be mad or at least give Scorpius a pitying look. But Rose surprised them all by blushing. she even let out a small giggle. Their eyes widened and their jaws dropped.
Rose rolled her eyes and sat down next to Scorpius.
"Hey Scorpius," She said softly.
"Uh...H-hey?" Scorpius replied, blushing furiously. "Um...Can we help you with something?"
"No. I just came to say hello." She spoke only to Scorpius, not even giving Albus a glance. She sidled closer to the blond Malfoy boy until their legs were pressed against each other. They seemed to be in their own world and forgot about Albus. He cleared his throat to get their attention. It didn't seem to work, so he coughed again, louder this time.
This time it worked, breaking Rose and Scorpius' gaze.
"Oh! Yes! Um...Well, I actually came here to talk to Scorpius. I was wondering if the offer still stood. The..um..date one. Well, I thought about it and I'd like to say yes. That is if it still stands..?" Rose asked. She seemed nervous to ask.
"YES! Um...I mean..uh..haha. Yeah. Knew you wouldn't be able to resist my charm." Scorpius replied enthusiastically, then realised his mistake and tried to be cool. It didn't work.
"Yay! We can talk about it later though. I don't think Albus would be happy if we talked about it here. He seems put out." She stage-whispered, shooting Albus a look of annoyance, which was shot back with an equally annoyed glare. She flounced out after a flirty smile at Scorpius and a glare at Albus.
"OH MY GOSH!!!!! AL!!!" Scorpius squealed as soon as Rose was out of earshot. I kid you not. He actually squealed. "I can't believe it! She said yes!!!"
"I know. I was there." Albus grumbled. "Anyway. We should get changed into our robes. We'll be there soon."
The boys changed quickly. Albus was still in a bit of a mood. His chest was filled with a bubbling feeling that was new to him. What was it? Jealousy? No. He was probably just annoyed that Scorpius had been giving Rose all of his attention and none to Albus. Plus, Rose was his cousin, so he was a bit pissed that she wasn't bothered with him anymore.
They soon arrived at Hogsmeade station and got into the carriages and rode up to Hogwarts. Their carriage held six people: Albus, James, his brother, who was in the year above, Lily, his sister, and Hugo, who were two years below, and Rose and Scorpius, who were both in his year. The latter pair seemed to be very close; they kept laughing about some stupid shit. With each flirtatious word, Albus' mood worsened.
A/N Thanks for reading! This chapter was quite short so sorry about that. I don't know what'll happen with updates but they should be pretty regular. About once a week? Maybe I'm being too ambitious. Ima leave now. Byeeeee.
