The one place on Tja that magic will rip a hole in the space time continuum. Using magic is illegal there.

40th marine battalion

Cap. Woods

An attack on the Colony had been reported by the local authorities. They said it was one man…

“Dropping now!” came the immediate cry from the pilot. Kailan readied himself. he ran a hand over his ash blond hair and picked up the rifle from his lap switching off the safety and slamming in the ammo clip. He looked around at his squad all of them hardened solders all veterans of many battles, he snapped his head from looking at Com. Veers’ slight smile. Kalian hated that man, or more that man hated Kailan. He thought Veers had made Kailan’s life hell since he joined the 40th Marine battalion but Kailan was better anyhow. Cap. Woods had put Kailan forward for the next Global Security division. A program designed to finding and rooting out terrorists, war criminals, and other extremely dangerous personnel. Kailan took another glance towards Veers. He was older than Kailan, and a veteran of two wars, a fact that after two moths Kailan still didn’t care about. Veers was the kind of person that thought everyone who was younger than him was inferior, and that he knew the best way to run the whole world. He was also racist sexist and homophobic which just added to his buzzing personality. Suddenly his mental rant was interrupted by a thump that meant that they had landed Kailan pulled his visor over his head, starting up the heads up display which showed him his vital signs, orders and suit damage. He was wearing the T421 recon armour which was made to fit his body structure so it would fit him perfectly. Clearing his head of all thought, he followed his fellow solders out of the drop ship keeping his rifle ready for any danger. There was no one there. The city was deserted. They had dropped at the south port which leads into the city centre although it was a small colony. Kailan took the rear guard looking behind the pack for any sign of danger, Deserted cars where the only thing he saw. Suddenly a loud cry of a gunshot echoed through the deserted streets. Kailan instinctively dived for cover behind one of the deserted cars on the road. Fear clenched his heart for a few seconds as he tried to comprehend what just happened, the rest of his squad had taken cover in an abandoned office block. Something was wrong, why shoot now? Why not when we exited the drop ship? They could have picked a few of us off, and why one shot? Suddenly it clicked. Kailan turned in frenzy, shouting with all his power “It’s a bomb!”

BANG!!

The blast radius was so large, Kailan was forced off his feet and hit his head on one of the cars. Slowly he came to his senses, grabbing his rifle and looking around. Dark figures were walking around the bomb site. They were covered in black robes with armour underneath and unique masks under hoods. Kailan scrambled to his feet, running to hide behind another car. One of them must have seen him, he hadn’t been subtle. He swore quietly drawing a sword from a scabbard on his back. He took a deep breath and listened to his surroundings shortly, he heard the crunch of sand underfoot. It was just behind the car. Kailan exploded with action he climbed onto the car with expert speed, jumping down from it to face the target head on, but the enemy was quick. He ducked, using his armoured wrist for cover. Kailan spun round and dived forward again with a succession of three consecutive strikes, but the hooded fiend blocked them all. Staggered, Kailan stepped back watching with horror as two more of them appeared in front of him in a hiss of energy. Kailan’s heart dropped. He could barely take on one let alone three. He had one hope. Slamming a ball of light on the ground that blinded the three attackers, Kalian gained a few seconds to run. Luckily his use of power had not broken the thin membrane that was the space time continuum. He had followed the road into the town centre noticing the broken statue of a long dead emperor. He turned round to look at his pursuers. They were not there. No one was. Suddenly Kailan’s heart sank as he heard the unmistakeable hissing. He turned readying his sword. He was no doubt there leader. The way he held himself, the way his eyes met Kailan’s, silently challenging him to a duel. He wore no robe like the others instead an armoured jacket with a hood that concealed a mask that only covered his mouth and nose, and on his back was the figure of a snake that twirled from the bottom of the jacket to below the neck. Without warning he unleashed a blast of dark energy from one hand. Kailan did the same using both his arms. A clash on light and dark erupted in the middle of the streams of energy. Kailan’s arms burned under the pressure of his power, but the other man didn’t even flinch. Pain shouted up his arm as Kailan screamed but he knew if he dropped his guard he would die. The pain was unbearable now; he had to stop this onslaught. Kailan said his goodbyes in his head, and recalled his blast of energy and to his surprise so did the other man. bewildered by his enemy’s sudden act of kindness, Kailan picked up his sword

“What is your name” shouted Kailan in the most demanding voice he could muster.

“Vipero” declared his opponent in a bone chilling voice.

“What was the purpose of this attack,” silence was his only reply. In a rush of shadow Vipero dived followed creating a sword out of his dark magic Kailan dodged the first attack while jumping back with a lunge towards Vipero’s chest. he blocked the attack and fought back with a flurry of four powerful strikes each of them blocked or dodged by Kailan. Kicking him in the chest Kailan twirled round in a frenzy trying to get one hit on the shadowy figure. He struck a blow across his mask but Vipero didn’t seem to be affected by it. In a tempest of light and shadow Vipero and Kailan fought on so equally matched that neither was going to win but they kept pushing forward almost to the point of winning, but then they were violently torn from there victory by the other’s shifty attack. With the last of his energy Kailan feigned diving to his left but instead dived to the right, slicing Vipero’s arm with a deep wound. The man didn’t even flinch at the maiming of his arm, instead he blasted Kailan back and then fired another beam of power. Kailan had just enough energy to match the beam. As they clashed there luck ran out. A portal of such magnitude erupted between them, blasting them both back and knocking them out. The last thing Kailan heard was a cold voice in his head saying

“You must stop the evil; it is your birth right…”
