(A/N) This was based off of a string of comments between two people that I saw in another story, and I thought it would make a good DenNor fanfic! Please enjoy. Dedicated to @AndMyFangirlism and @Youtubegirl350

Mathias sat in his room, staring at the wall. The calendar, more specifically. His blue eyes hovered on the date. February fourteenth, Valentine's Day.

He sighed. It wasn't that he had nobody. He did have someone, potentially. A blonde boy that always wore a silver clip in his hair and an emotionless face. He was totally able to ask out the boy of his dreams, but there was one thing in his way.

He was almost sure that Lukas didn't like him back.

A feeling of frustration rose up inside the blonde, and he punched his pillow. If only he had the courage! He could ask Lukas out, and if Lukas didn't like him, corresponding with his suspicions, then he could just move on instead of wasting his time being kind and doing favors for the boy.

He pulled out his phone and created a new text. He put in his own phone number.

Hey

Then his phone dinged, and a message appeared.

Hey

Mathias smiled weakly.

Will you date me?

The phone sounded again and it repeated the message.

Will you date me?

Mathias pretended that he was texting Lukas. He typed in a reply.

Sure!

The conversation continued, and he planned to go out at seven o'clock that night. He would go to a fancy restaurant.

A knock on the door interrupted him from his thoughts. "Mathias?" Tino's voice sounded through the door.

"What?" Mathias' voice was miserable and weak. It was then that he realized that he had been crying. He wiped the tears from his cheeks with his sleeve before responding again in a stronger voice. "Yes?"

"Dinner's ready. Come down when you're ready."

Mathias stood and opened the door. "I'm actually not going to eat dinner. I have plans tonight—"

"Are you okay?" Tino interrupted. Upon closer inspection, he added, "Have you been crying?!"

"No!" Mathias responded, probably too fast. "I'm fine, I'm just going out to eat tonight." He pushed past Tino and ran down the stairs, tripping a few times.

"Mathias?" The blonde passed Emil as he left the house.

He checked his watch. It was six fifty. He grinned sadly and entered his car. Close enough.

He sat down on a red leather seat in the restaurant. A waitress with pretty brown hair in a ponytail high on her head soon came to take his order. "What would you like, sir?"

"Can I have two pieces of cake?"

"Sir, you can only order one piece of cake at a time."

He internally screamed in sad frustration. This was supposed to be a date! "Fine, I'll have a single piece of cake." The waitress nodded and left. Mathias put his head in his arms.

Then he looked up. "Hey, Lukas." He envisioned the stoic blonde sitting in front of him. The imaginary Lukas greeted him back. "Don't you like this date?" Imaginary Lukas nodded his head.

After a while, the waitress returned with the cake. Then she left.

Mathias looked back at Imaginary Lukas. "Sorry I couldn't get you a piece. The waitress said I could only have one."

Imaginary Lukas shrugged.

"I know! We can share. You don't mind, do you?"

Imaginary Lukas shook his head. While Mathias was busy, he hadn't noticed that the other customers had started to give him concerned looks. One of them whispered to the waitress with the brown hair, and she approached his table. As soon as she arrived, Imaginary Lukas disappeared.

"Sir."

Mathias looked up.

"You have disrupted the other customers, and it appears that you are intoxicated. We'll have to ask you to leave."

A wave of sadness rose up inside Mathias, and he stood up and walked out. He just wanted to experience a date with his crush, was that so hard, even if his partner was imagined?

He went to his car, threw the door open, and slammed it shut after getting in. The Dane sat still in the car for who knows how long. He cried for the second time that day. Why couldn't I just have had the courage to ask Lukas out?

When he finally dried his tears, Mathias looked at the built-in clock in his car. Nine o'clock. It had been two hours since he had left the house. He sighed and turned on the engine.

~~~
Mathias slowly opened the door to the house, all the lights off inside. He looked around and saw Lukas watching a movie, sitting on the couch. His heart seemed to shatter the moment he saw the blonde.
"Mathias." Lukas stood up, pausing the movie. "Where were you? You've been gone for hours."
Mathias took a deep breath and decided to tell the truth. Well, part of it. "I went on a date with myself. I haven't had a date in my entire lifetime and I wanted to know what it was like." He was surprised he hadn't burst out crying.
Lukas' expression seemed to change, just a little, to confused sympathy. "Uh, sit down."
Mathias blinked. He wasn't used to Lukas acting like this. He joined Lukas on the couch. The two sat in silence.
Mathias' breath caught as he realized the situation. They were in the perfect position to confess. He could confess right now and it would be perfect.
Unless Lukas rejected him.
A lump rose in the Dane's throat and he felt tears come to his eyes. He swallowed, trying to get rid of the tears that threatened to fall. He failed.
Lukas looked over in carefully hidden alarm as the first tears fell. Mathias hid his face in his hands. He was sobbing quietly by now.
"Mathias?!" Lukas' stoic face changed into one of concern.
Mathias slowly eased himself onto Lukas' shoulder. The latter tensed immediately. Then he relaxed and hesitantly began petting Mathias' wild hair. Then he quietly whispered something to the Dane.
"I would have gone with you if you had asked me."
