Hunter could feel the cold water seeping through his converse, the downs of wearing canvas sneakers in the rainy seasons. He sighed audibly as he felt raindrops falling into his thick red hair, just when he thought the skies were staring to clear up life decides to remind him that he's no weather man.

He quickened his pace towards the direction of the intersection. Taking a quick right turn, his foot slipped on the wet paving and suddenly the ground was getting closer at an alarming pace.

Hunter closed his eyes waiting to feel an impact but before his body had a chance to collide with the floor he felt a sharp tug pulling him back upright with a jolt.

He opened his eyes to be met with curious hazel ones.

" Hi " the mystery girl had a voice which sounded curiously melodious, like the sirens found in fantasy movies. " Are you okay ? You look a bit startled. "

Blushing, Hunter looked down, his mind must have wondered off again. He smiled brightly " I'm great, thanks to you of course."

Through all of this the rain had just gotten worse and was now starting to pour. Feeling the wet material of his t-shirt against his back Hunter snapped back into reality

" I didn't get your name. " he said looking up at her through rain soaked lashes.

"You never asked." replied the siren, her voice didn't hold a hint of sass or mockery " Let's try that again, what's your name ?" Hunter asked with a smile.

She looked up with her brown hair dripping from the rain and smiled , " My name's Alice, what's yours?"

Grinning up at her he replied , "Hunter. "

By now the rain was coming down monstrously hard and it would be impossible to go anywhere without being drowned in the rain.

"So Hunter, where are you off to in such a hurry? " asked Alice

" Anywhere sheltered  actually," he replied with a chuckle ," where are you going ? "

" Not certain, i may just see where the road takes me. "

" Now ? " Hunter asked confused. Alice merely nodded, " In this rain?" he asked in alarm. Once again Alice nodded but this time it was accompanied with a small chuckle.

"The rain is magnificent, nothing of harm. Why don't you accompany me and i'll show you."

Her voice was soothing, just like a siren, and surely convinced him. Taking her hand he caught the twinkle in her eye before he was suddenly running along side Alice.

He looked at her and she just let go of his hand and started spinning, arms out and eyes closed with the most vibrant smile he had ever seen plastered across her face.

Her happy mood was contagious and soon he found himself dancing with her, with their laughter ringing through the street as they played in the rain, making their way to the paving.

They stepped near the stores, the small roof jutting out gave them small coverage from the rain. They stood facing each other, both of them dripping lakes where they stood yet both wearing smiles bigger than the Cheshire cat's .

" I would never have thought that today I'd dance in the rain with a stranger. " he said looking up at her. "we're only strangers until we become friend. " she beemed up at him and he couldn't help but smile back.

" Well then, please do except my humble propsal of a newfound friendship ." Hunter gave a bow to seal the proposal.

"Why of course fine sir! " and she took his extended hand with a small giggle .

" My uncle owns a small cofee shop nearby, it's a wonderful place. Would you like to accoumpany me?"

"That sounds brilliant!" and with that they walked down the street in search for this cofee shop.

After about five minutes Alice stopped. "Well, we're here."
Hunter took in the coffee shop, it was simple but looked cosy and pleasent.

They stepped in together but before a breath could be taken they were bombared.

" Ali! Where have you been, we were expecting you an hour ago!" a deep voice startles them both back to reality, the voice came from a middle aged man with an amused look on his face.

"I picked up a new friend and decided to come and show him our little coffee shop." she replied smiling sweetly.

" Very well " The man laughed, " Well why don't you go on upstairs and give our new friend some dry clothes, for you as well darling. " the man then turned to Hunter, " We'll speak a bit more once you're all dry ." Hunter gave the man a grateful smile before the man turned to leave.

" Follow me" the siren ordered and soon he was following her up a staircase into a room very different from the one below.

He looked at her with his eyes wide and mouth gaping, she just chuckled and pulled him forward.

Today was just full of surprises waiting to be found, and to be frank, it was bloody brilliant.
