It pained me to see my friend James just sitting there weeping, so I decided to help him, because I loved to help people. He looked totally different than the James I knew. As I moved closer, I got a better look at him. Right now, he looked like he hadn't slept for days, and he had bags under his eyes to prove it. His face was red and swollen from crying so much. I could see that James had also gotten skinnier, but he was naturally skinny. Now he was as skinny as I was, even more, and I hated to say it, but he looked as if he hadn't eaten in a few days either. Maybe weeks, but I don't know. I mean, for the past month I was on the unit, plus the four days I was out in the hospital room before I woke up.
"James," I whispered, trying to get his attention without anyone hearing us, even though we were in the middle of the woods.
"Shit, now I'm going crazy, aren't I? I miss her so much that now I'm imagining her voice," he whimpered from his tree stump.
"No, James. Look behind you."
He followed my voice, and turned around to face me, still sitting down.
"Who are y-" he began, but I cut him off.
"Shhh, it's Trinity. I had to disguise myself so I wouldn't get caught and sent back to the hospital. Also, Deston is after me, and I figured all of this would help him not recognize me," I explained, gesturing to my made up self.
Despite him recently crying, he chuckled a bit. Oh, how I missed that heart warming sound...his voice. I then knew what I had to do. I ran over to him, grabbed his face, and brought my lips to his. Once he registered what was happening, he kissed back, our lips in perfect sync, moving together.
After a few minutes, we broke apart, breathing heavily and gasping for air. James smiled at me then, genuinely. I grinned back at him, staring into his eyes.
"You look so different, but yet it's still you. Your eyes are the same, and your voice. Damn, I've missed you... I couldn't sleep at night, Trinity. I could barely bring myself to get out of bed even though I couldn't sleep. I was so worried about how you were doing in the hospital and I thought I was going to lose you and-" he babbled, but I squeezed him in a tight embrace, and again brought my mouth to his.
"I missed you too, so much. Everything will be okay- I hope," I mumbled onto his lips.
We both sighed then, standing in the middle of the woods like nothing mattered but this moment and the two of us. We stood in a long embrace, swaying back and fourth continuously.
After a long while of this, James spoke.
"Trinity?"
"Yeah?"
"You're coming back with me to my place to live with me. I can't have you going to your house where things aren't stable, and your parents will surely send you back to that damned unit. I can't bear to lose you again, for so long. I want you to be mine. For so long, I've had these feelings about you that I haven't told you about, because I didn't think you were over the whole Carlisle thing. Please Trinity, my family will keep you safe," James pleaded.
"Okay. I will come back with you to your place, but I honestly don't want you and your family to be in danger. I'll be yours. I love you, and I mean it. Believe me when I say I am over Carlisle, because there is no bringing him back from the dead. Today at the hospital, I ate a full meal for dinner. Honestly, I think I'm recovering," I breathed.
"Let's go then. My car is parked just by the road, over there," he pointed towards his red bug, a gift from his parents for his sixteenth birthday.
I attempted walking, but it wasn't long before James caught sight of the ace bandage under my pant leg. I knew I was capable of walking to the car, even in the dim light of the evening, but James insisted that he should carry me. I just went along with it, because I was truly beat, and I liked the feelings of his arms around me. I also liked how our bodies fit perfectly together. I smiled up at him as he carried my bridal style to his car.
