Alex's POV:
I loudly groaned when my alarm clock went off at 5:00 in the morning. I quickly turned it off hoping it didn't wake my father. I opened up my messages and checked for anything from Riley my best friend and crush since middle school. Before you ask: I salute the rainbow flag. Yeah i'm gay and no one knows not even my father and i'd like to keep it that way.

i finished talking to Riley and took a shower. The warm water felt amazing against my bruised body. I heard my sister knocking on the door.
"ALEX HURRY UP." She yelled I wrapped the towel around my waist and walked out. She stopped me. I looked at her. She was looking at the new scar on my side.
"It's fresh." She whispered angrily. I hugged her. "don't worry," I said kissing her forehead "I'll be fine." I wasn't I was angry and sad and feeling defeated. We were stuck in this hell hole with no way out, that's what angered me the most. I slipped on my grey sweatshirt and blue jeans and went to my car to wait for May to come out.
