As he climbed through the window his the jacket of his suit caught on an old nail, causing the intruder to fall over himself and onto the floor in the corner of her room. With a spring of evergy he was back up on his feet and rubbing the dust from the sill off of his jacket. "Hello miss." He exclaimed in a hushed voice from the small corner as the wind from the open window russtled the tails of his  jacket. Aster sprang off the bed and sauntered over to the charming figure of a man, mewing to be allowed acess into his arms. Charlotte could only look on in amazement and fear as the stranger picked up her cat and began moving closer to her bed. With all the curage she could muster Charlotte moved out of her safe stop in the center of her bed and to the edge. The two people moving closer in silence.

“No time to properly explain. I’m the doctor.  Now come with me.” The slender man stood there in the dark corner of her room holding up a glowing mechanism, his eyes and face illuminated by the emerald light. He took a few quick steps towards her, walking on the balls of his feet; offering a slender hand to Charlotte motioning for her to come along.

Summoning the last of her bravery she stood up from her warm bed to face the man that had invited himself into her bedroom. “I think before I go anywhere with you, introductions are in order.” Her eyes locking with his to ensure he was aware that she was not going to budge unless certain of his intentions.

The man fiddled with the oversized tie that hung loosely around his neck, eyes breaking the gripping gaze of the woman in front of him. “Well, you see, I don’t quite know who I am yet” he said quietly. He slowly raised his head, his chestnut hair falling messily into his face. “But I can tell you that there is something rather special about you, and that at this moment is still a mystery to me as well. So, how about you and I go on a grand adventure. I can figure out who I am this time around and you get to see the universe.” A sly smile crossing his face, the promise of adventure was normally where he had all his past companions. The chances of a life away from the mundane was too much for humans to cope with, they wanted out as much as he wanted company, it worked perfectly.

Charlotte took a step back from him, surveying and taking in all aspects of the strange man. “If you ever want a hope of filling those empty journals I would suggest you take this leap.”

Anger filled Charlotte. “How did you know they were empty.”

“Lucky guess.” He sauntered forward and grabbed her hand, firmly but with an over whelming tone of desperation. “Now are you just going to let me leave by myself while you wait for the next promise of adventure to sneak into your room?” He was right up against her. She let out a sigh. “I’m going to take that as a no,” and a grin that rivaled the Cheshire cats found its way upon his face.

He must have been in his mid 20’s judging by his hairstyle and his body frame. There was something enticing about what ever hid behind those eyes. Next thing she knew she was being guided through her bedroom window by the strange raggedy man, and into the golden glow of the street lamps.

There right across from the doorway of her house situated perfectly under the street lamp was a blue police booth. The booth was new to the streets of her little suburban neighborhood and looked dreadfully out of place. Charlottes hands were beginning to sweat, she had brought nothing with her and she had not even told her parents she was going to go out. This form of irresponsibility was a character trait that never showed itself.

The man that was guiding her quickly turned around and leaned in, “Im the Doctor by the way, and I don’t think I quite caught your name.”

“You can tell my journals are empty but you cannot figure out my name?” Doubt started to enter her mind about the magical aura that surrounded her new friend.

“No. You are Charlotte Cypher. You are about to go to university to study, you have grown up here your entire life and you really want to know something more about the world. Everything seems rather lack luster to you and far too easy.” The man was starting to talk faster as his confidence grew; Charlotte kept a strait face not wanting to give away her awe for the man. “You thirst for meaning and beauty in everything but sadly you cannot seem to find it here. So you were hoping growing up would allow you to see the world more. Im going to tell you something very important…” He began to lean in as if about to whisper the secret to life to the young girl, only to be interrupted by the sound of tearing metal.

“No. No. No. Not good.” He let go of her hands and ran to the door to the police box. He pushed the door open and ran inside, leaving Charlotte to decide whether or not to follow him. Aster had caught up with her and the tomcat was purring at her feet, his verdant eyes looking up at her before following the barely open door.

Charlotte looked up at the stars above the house just in time to see a shooting star dance across the sky. Closing her eyes she made a wish, a wish so strong that the entire cosmos could hear it.

The sounds from the box only began to intensify. Charlotte turned around to find that the Doctor had changed out of the over sized tie and shirt and had changed into a brown tweed jacket adorned with a red bowtie. The Doctor, leaning against the blue of the box, only out stretched his hand. Looking back at the house and then into the Doctors eyes, she had made her choice. Without taking his hand she ran into the Box, leaving him behind.

“Are you coming doct-“ Before she could finish her sentence she was inside the TARDIS. Aster was situated on the control counsel in the middle of the massive room, where he was happily cleaning his paws. The bright lights and strange sounds created a carnival for her senses. The whole thing was too much and the air left her lungs as she fell backwards. The Doctor was right there to catch her from hitting the ground. He slowly lowered her to floor of the TARDIS, careful to move the hair out of her face. He had always loved humans; every little thing about them was so delicate and amazing. Running his hand over the side of her face he stopped when he noticed her necklace. There hanging from her neck was the family crest of one of the oldest civilizations that ever called earth home.

“Oh I just KNEW you were going to be a fun one!” excitement bubbling within him. He took off his jacket and laid it over the girl before running over to the control counsel. “Next stop medieval England, I think we have some people we have to talk to Charlotte.” A screen with Charlottes face and information hung on a swivel next to the doctor as he began to read more into the files he had about the strange girl with the empty journals. The TARDIS began her journey through time with the new doctor and companions saftley inside.
