Nadine lightly bit her bottom lip as she grabbed the napkin from Kath's hands and read through the words on it. "What the fuck is this?" she asked, looking up.
"James' song! And okay, Diego kissed me and your friend seemed sad. And I think he almost fought him about some ceremony? And even before when I followed you, he always looked at you differently and I'm telling you he lov--"
"You're just reaching," Nadine interrupted. "Look, James writes a lot of songs. It was probably random and what right do you have to act as if you know anything about me and my relationships with others?"
"I know we're still fairly new as friends--"
"Friends?" Nadine asked, cocking an eyebrow as she scuffed. "I've only known you for a little less than a week, now we're friends?"
Kath shrugged, her eyes aimed at the ground as she tried to avoid eye contact with Nadine.
"Anyways," Nadine began. "If you're done using my body as your personal barbie doll and my life as your little reality show, I'd like to switch back now."
Kath blinked as she fully digested the words.
"That..wasn't what I was doing at all," she argued, but nonetheless went through with switching back.
Kath scrunched her nose and placed a hand on each of Nadine's shoulders. Her eyes closed once again and she channeled the same energy that allowed her to complete the switch. Her eyes then rolled open and she found herself in the opposite position in her original form.
Nadine opened her eyes and ran a finger through the waves as she looked down at her outfit.
"I'm sorry you didn't like it," Kath began, breaking the silence. "I wanted to surprise you because I thought--"
"You thought wrong," Nadine answered. "I hate this color and I hate this sort of style. I let you use my body, yes, I even said you could go out and buy lunch. Never did I say you can just dress me anyway you saw pleased," Nadine grumbled.
"I know, I'm sorry," Kath apologized once more. "I just thought you'd like it--"
"But that isn't even the biggest reason why I'm mad. I thought I made it clear that you intervening in my personal life was a big no," Nadine sneered. "I get you had to act around them, but then coming and telling me to break up with my boyfriend? That my best friend is in love with me? And I should be with him? What right do you have to say that? You barely know any of them let alone me."
Kath stepped closer. "Nadine, I get I was wrong with the clothes and make-up, but I'm not telling you my opinion because I find it all amusing. I car--"
Nadine shook her head swiftly from side to side as she balled her fist. "Do you even understand why you were wrong? I know I let you use my body to go and take the test--which I regret--and get lunch and even go around, but dressing up and getting a makeover? That wasn't your place to do so in and that was my body you made your personal doll. And again, this whole you trying to change me and get in my business thing has to end. I don't know how many times I have to tell you that you have no business telling getting involved or speaking over my decisions because you don't know me. And you never will. We're not friends, Kath. You like to think you're my mom or whatever but you aren't," Nadine vented as her lips curved downward. "So just back off, because I'm old enough to know for myself. And I think I know better than some dead girl."
Kath felt her fists threaten to clench as she absorbed the words.
"I never tried to be your mom or claim I knew better than you," Kath answered. "I know I'm not perfect, I get it. I make mistakes and wrong assumptions. But you know what? I apologize for them. I try and move forward and learn. But Nadine, you really don't. I know I can be frustrating and I've caused you a lot stress. But I try and resolve it and give in a lot. You don't do the same with me. You always are so irritated and so closed off. And in general so dismissive of anything that contradicts your own presumptions..."
