THE SUN WAS RADIATING. It's fluorescent rays pierced your ( s/t ) skin, and was sure to impart burns across your body. This bit of information went unheeded by you, who would prefer to silently deal with the sting of your skin every time a wayward hand brushed it. Perhaps this was not the same case with your Aunt however.
Your Aunt, Viktoria Althaus, was, in short of terms, incredibly dull. You had been housing with her since the death of your mother, due to a massive outbreak of the plauge. Sickness in the Shiganshina District was far from unheard of, but from what Viktoria had been willing to apprise to you, and what you had gathered from families that had lost loved ones, the plauge was damn near apocalyptic. You had crowned a reputation in Shiganshina for being morbidly curious about the plauge, and everything and everyone concerning it. This same morbid curiousity had also crowned you the constant watch of your hawk-eyed Aunt, who when she wasn't preoccupied with cooking or gossiping with her close friends, tried to convey to you the art of being a lady.
Needless to say, like the sun's focused rays, her efforts went unheeded.
Your father had been everything to you. Ulysses Althaus saw you as the light of his life. After the death of your mother, your father had spiraled. A celebrated member of the Scouting Regement, he had not been present for her passing. As you moved in with your Aunt, Ulysses drifted for a long time. It took him months to finally face you. This was the subject of great inceritude and injury for you. You didn't blame your father for not being there for you. However, you weren't being honest with yourself if during those months of perfect silence, you didn't harbor within you a spot of resentment, a sore that never quite went away.
Until the day he died. Ulysses had been killed on the fourtieth Scouting Regement's expedition outside of Wall Rose. Ulysses had been a satisfactory father to you. He had read to you, and viewed over you and your actions with a sort of amused detachment, that you adored about him. Most of all, he had fueled your passions.
It was the same passion that had your Aunt keeping constant vigil, that had you sent out of people's homes from poking around, asking for the details of loved ones deaths. ( In your defense you were betting on the plauge... And one out of two times you were right. ) You wanted to be a Doctor. More than anything else, you desired the abilty to cure others of disease, of death, you wanted to bring hope to people who already lost it.
Your aspirations led you to Grisha Jaeger, and in turn Carla and Eren Jaeger, along with the adopted Mikasa Ackerman. You already knew Grisha vaugley from when your mother's condition became in dire peril. Grisha hadn't been able to save her, but you would never be able to diminsh the memory of him slaveing over her expiring body. Grisha welcomed you into the household, and you admired him greatly.
