This is a story that was inspired by a multitude of things one of them being an original Wattpad story Crossbones, by karatechop as well as other pop culture pirate based pieces (i.e. Pirates of the Caribbean).
I have not completely read through the entirety of Crossbones, and if there are similarities I wish to nip the question of copyrighting in the butt now. If there are similarities that I have yet to discover, please know and understand that it is a coincidence.
I also highly recommend the story Crossbones, to anyone with a love for action, mystery, and of course pirates.
