trust
noun
1.firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.
When the tears in reality opened, many didn't want to believe it, but as more creatures flooded through, it couldn't be avoided. Night Walkers, Mermaids, Ghosts, Trolls, Demons. Things of make believe before your very own eyes. It was too bizarre for most to comprehend, pushing it back far into their memories. Some lived in peace and came to accept these creatures, others shunned and stuck up their nose. It was a split battle on trusting these new creatures.
trustnoun
2.confidence placed in a person by making that person the nominal owner of property to be held or used for the benefit of one or more others.
One thing is certain, trust in these creatures slowly began to fade as they became more violent. Threatening. Most coward in fear at the monsters. This did not go unnoticed by the creatures, months after more tears opening, a battle was initiated. Monsters being the victor. Taking humans as their possessions, enslaving them, keep them as prisoners, few were lucky to hide and escape the terrors that awaited them.
trustnoun
3.a body of trustees.
The few that managed to escape knew they had to act, had to rebel in some way or else their existence was at fault. A group rose, trained to actually be ready to go against these creatures, little did they know, that some of these creatures were prepared to fight as well, they found it wrong, wrong to enslave any kind of species, human or not. These groups paired together, became known as 'Protectors'. The name came from the curse it originated from, while these two groups did work together, the human group was still biased on these creatures, and even more so to find out, they were demons. The curse gave them a link, a special marking that represented them and their partner. The link had a special magic, if the human was feeling any sort of emotion, the demon would be able to feel it. The demon's power was concealed by the link, meaning they could only get their power if the human was around, if the human wasn't around it could result in two things. The demon becoming very weak, or the human becoming very ill. The last thing the curse offered was very costly. To ensure that the demon would actually protect their human with their life, the link made sure that if the human were to die, the demon would die from power drainage soon after. Working together though, Protectors advanced and were able to set humans free, but the demons still knew of the power the tears carried, they need to be guarded to make sure no other out breaks like this happened, and so they stuck around to make sure their humans stayed safe.
trust
noun
1.firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something.
Trust is such a fragile thing, once damaged, it's near impossible to repair. Though these demons proved to be helpful and harmless towards humans, the damage had already been done, non-protectors didn't trust these demons to keep to their words of being loyal. These humans knew they had to make a sacrifice, killing the demons humans, breaking the link and killing the demons with them. The cruel act was something they thought needed to be done. The cruse though, had another special trick, if the human happened to die for any reason, its bond would randomly be passed on to another human that is either born or already alive. Who knows, maybe one day humans will realize they mean well.
