Parting

After the holiday, Dazai and Chuuya's relationship stayed quiet.
But, after a few weeks, it became obvious and everyone in the school found out.
Thankfully they all took it well and didn't bother them, however Dazai was mildly worried about what Mori would make of it. Even though they barely talked anymore, he would spot his old carer eyeing him from across the road or following him for a bit before trailing off.
It was bothering Dazai; and it was bothering Chuuya and Kouyou too.

"No."
Dazai stood firmly in the door frame, looking right up into Mori's eyes and trying not to shudder.
"But I've decided." Mori grinned.
"What's going on?" Kouyou stepped in behind Dazai as she rested a hand onto his shoulder protectively.
"Well I've been given a cut back on work, permanently. I have found myself in debt to you for taking care of a Dazai for so long, so I have decided to look after him again." He turned back to Dazai with a twisted smile. "We've missed you, you know."
"I don't want to go."
"Mori, if he doesn't want to live with you maybe yo-"
"Stay out of this Kouyou."
Kouyou's grip tightened and Dazai felt his shoulder begin to bleed under her sharp fingernails.
Mori grabbed Dazai and pulled him outside, holding him so that he couldn't go back.
"I'll be collecting his things this evening."
And with that he left, Dazai walking behind as they made their way into his old home, rubbing the bleeding tear in his shoulder.

"I'm sorry, Chuuya."
"It's okay. It was going to happen anyway, wasn't it?"
**
"Don't you want to go visit him, Chuuya?"
"No. I'm fine."
**
"Chuuya, are you okay?"
"Yeah."
**
"Dazai called after you sweetie, you wanna go talk to him yet?"
"Later."
**
"Aktugawa, Gin, Atsushi and Higuchi have asked when you're going back to school."
"I'll get back to them later."
**
"Kyouka sent a picture."
"Tell her I say thanks."
**
"Chuuya, are you sure you're okay?"
"Don't worry I'm fine."
**
"Chuuya, when was the last time you ate?"
"I'll eat in a bit."
**
"You're teacher wants you back at school, Chuuya."
"I'll go back tomorrow."
**
"How was school sweetie?"
"Good."
**
"Please eat Chuuya."
"..."
**
"Dazai says that if you don't want to talk he'll end the relationship, since there's not much of one left."
"Tell him to go ahead."
**
"Chuuya, eat your dinner."
"I already ate."
**
"Chuuya, Aku and Gin called."
"Okay."
**
"Chuuya...are you okay?"
"No."
"I thought so."

**
Ring ring. Ring ring.
"Hello? Mori's not at home but I'll send your message through to him."
"Dazai, is that you sweetie?"
"Oh, hi Kouyou."
"Please come to the hospital."
"Why?"
"Chuuya-"
Call ended.
**
"What happened."
"He wasn't eating."
"Why would he do that?"
"Because of you."
"..."
**
"Dazai, please visit us."
"I can't."
"Why?"
"It would be best if I left his life."
"..whatever you think would be best."
**
"Kouyou, where's Dazai?"
"..."
"Kouyou, I want Dazai."
"..."
"Kouyou..w-where i-is he?"
"He said he thought it would be best to leave your life."
"W-why?"
".."
"Fine."
**
Ring ring.
"Hello? This is Mori."
"Mori, can I talk to Dazai?"
"Oh Chuuya. What's the reason?"
"I just want to talk to him again."
I'm not sure if that's a good idea."
"Why?"
"You made his life a living hell. It would be best if you left his life."
Call ended.
**
"Mori"
"Yes Dazai?"
"Never talk to Chuuya again."
"I was only telling the truth."
"You were telling a damn lie."
**
"Hello Chuuya."
"Hey Dazai."
"Is this it then?"
"Yeah."
"Bye shortie."
"Later giraffe."
**
"Chuuya?"
"Yeah Kouyou?"
"It's not the end of you two, y'know."
"How do you know?"
"Because you're both head over heels in love."
"...."
"Am I right?
"You're goddamn right."
