Darkness

Let the darkness envelope me
because I no longer exist.
My shadow is a black woman
and so am I.
The lights mean nothing to me,
especially when I see
them fluorescent, bright and sparkling.
My body is a grey sheet and
through this sheet I tear myself apart
by running sharp edges on my hands,
my knees.
My face is dull and my eyes are sunken.
I am drunk on sorrow; can't even
borrow some joy.
I am a broken toy.
I am the one you left behind.
Let the darkness envelope me
because I no longer exist.
