Be careful with this one -- there are coaches and athletes that can speak against this.
1) Practice was a little late, couldn't find your shoes to change out of, and then your bag fell, unzipped, and all of your stuff fell out -- you had to stop and clean it up. When you got home, you showered, and then supper took a while. And then your mom stopped to chat to you about practice or something.
2) After a game locally, your parents took you home, and insisted on eating out. Then the car broke down on the way home. When you finally got home, you only had time for a shower.
3) A game went late, or you had to clean up after a late game.
4) A cousin had a game going on, and it went late, and then you had car trouble. (Blame a lot on car trouble; it's believable)
