Danny Avidan sat quietly in the corner of the shop, the same place he sat every Friday night. He was sitting across from his friend, Zach Darga, who was the most experienced Magic player of all of them.

"Oh come on Darga, give me something to work with!" Danny yelled upset because Darga had pulled the same shit he pulls every Friday; countering every one of your spells until you have nothing then making so many 2/2 cats that you give up.

"Your deck has a lot of potential Danny. Just add more counters and I think you should be good." Darga replied as Danny scooped. Darga was referring to Danny's Blue Black zombie deck. And not one that you would typically find at a modern event. This deck was run around casing as many spells as possible before turn six then casting a Rise From the Tides, counting all the spells from the graveyard and make a 2/2 zombie for each spell. This deck never worked, but Danny still held it close to his heart. It was his only standard deck after all.

"Well it doesn't really matter," Danny replied, reaching in his bag. He pulled out a red deck box that struck fear into many. "Because I've got this. My pride and joy." Darga knew what was in the box.

"Goblins, nice." They high-fived before Danny got up and walked to the front counter of the shop, still holding the box.

Matt was working behind the counter, he was setting up tonight's event presumably until Danny noticed that a boy was standing up at the other end of the counter. His black hair covering half his face with blue in the front of his fringe. Matt was setting him up with his DCI number, so Danny decided to introduce himself.

"Hey, you must be new. I'm Danny, master of Magic." Danny held out is hand and the other boy grasped it. Danny was shocked at how attractive he was with his blue eyes and pale skin, his snake bites glistening in the dimly lit store. He went to respond but before and set of words could come out if his mouth, Matt interrupted.

"He's really not, he sucks pretty hard actually." Danny smacked his arm while he giggled. "Oh come on, I'm just teasing. Danny is actually pretty good. He never wins, but he puts up a nice fight." The boy nodded in respect.

"Well that's good. I'm Phil. I'm completely new to Magic but I've always wanted to learn. I built this deck with what little cards I have but it could probably be better." He let go of Danny's hand and grabbed his black deck box off the counter. He slid it towards Matt and Danny and they took a look at it.

"Ah, yes. Blue Green morph, very wise
choice my friend." Danny said as he began to separate the deck into a few piles. One being way larger than the other. "It could use some work but it's pretty good. I'll help you out."

Phil beamed. His smile, his face, it was lit in anticipation. Phil let his black hair fall farther in front of his face. He thought he would jump out of his skin.

"That would be amazing!" Phil yelled.

"Well lets do it then." Danny replied as he grabbed the land station from behind the counter, and the giant box of singles they had for sale.

Danny called back to Matt and said he'd pay him for whatever he used. They sat down in the spot where him and Darga had been as Danny separated the deck again. This time, it was in three piles, Blue, Green, and lands. Danny counted each stack before separating each one out further by mana cost. Once he was finished he looked up at Phil.
