He fell in love with her...
She already loves someone else...
He was willing to do everything for her...
She was head over heels with another guy...
All he wanted was to be with her...
But she was already happy with him...
He gave her his heart...
But she just threw it away as if it were nothing...
He would've treated her like a princess...
But she chose to stay with someone who treats her badly...

But after all that he still loved her with all his heart. And even she, grew tired of loving the guy. He knew about it, and so he went to her and comforted her. He knew how badly she was treated, and felt anger well up in his heart. And so he promised to himself... he would never do the same thing to her should she decides to give him her heart. The girl was happy, that somebody like him was there for her when she needed a companion the most. She thought to herself that this is a guy who'm she can rely on. A guy who would be there for her when she's weak, a guy who would wipe her tears. And most of all, a guy who would finally treat her right. She asked herself how could she had possibly thrown away the love of such a guy. So she spent every day, her thoughts filled with regrets, trying to think of ways to make it up to him. And so time passed by, and with each passing minute, he falls for her deeper. But he was scared to tell her again how he feels. She too, was starting to fall in love with the guy. But she didn't want to destroy what they had now. She feared that the guy no longer felt the same way about her before. And so she kept it to herself.

And so they became best of friends, neither one of them knowing how they felt for one another was mutual. Every day they would spend the afternoon together in the park, talking about their day and experiences. And every night, they would go up into the roof peacefully gazing into the stars. One night, the moon was so beautiful and they couldn't help but admire the view. The girl said in awe, "It's beautiful isn't it?". And he replied with a fixed gaze on her, "Yeah, it's the most beautiful thing I have ever seen." Time went by and she fell asleep, lying beside him. And he couldn't resist staring at her beautiful face, memorizing every detail of it. In his thoughts, he wished he could tell her how he felt, but he knew better. And so he spent the night thinking about what could've been if she had learn to love him, until he fell asleep, with a sad smile plastered on his face.

After that night, he would always go to her house. He wanted to be always near her. They would always go to their favorite swing in the park. And watch the sunset on top of a big rock near the cliff. One afternoon, as they were watching the sunset... the girl asked the guy if he could tell her a story. The guy asked why, and she told him that she just wanted to hear one. The guy happily said yes and thought for a second. He then said, "Hmm, okay I have a story. But it's not really that good." She replied, "It's okay."
And so he went on, " The story was about a girl, who once had a balloon. The balloon was beautiful, it was the best thing she ever had in her life. It was very special for her, she loved it dearly, so dearly to the point that it had been her companion in her everyday life. She was so afraid of losing it, but fate decided to take it away from her... the wind blew and the balloon was blown away. She tried to chase it but it was far too late. She was devastated, tears welling up in her eyes. But she met a guy, he saw her and asked why. She told him what happened, and he spent the day trying to cheer her up. After that day, they would always meet at the park. Telling each other jokes and eating ice cream. She was so happy, so happy that whenever she's with him she forgets about her loss. One day the guy didn't show up at their usual spot. So she decided to walk around and look for him, she saw him sitting down on the edge of a small cliff, holding a heart-shaped balloon. She walked up to him and asked him what's he doing up there. He simply answered that it was nothing, that he was just thinking about some stuff. Then  he stood up, offered his hand to help her stand up as well. They just stood there, staring out into the sea. Then he finally decided to speak up, "Do you know what this is?" She replied, "Yeah, it's a balloon." He said, "Yes it is, remember when you lost yours? I saw how devastated you were so I decided to give this to you as a little gift. This is my one and only balloon, I've been keeping it for a very long time, waiting for someone- who'm I can give it to- to come by. I wanted to give this balloon to someone who'm I really trust. So giving you this means that you actually mean a lot to me. Can you promise to keep it, and protect it no matter what?" She gladly replied yes, unable to contain the happiness within her."

After he finished narrating the story, he asked what she thought about it. She gladly replied that it was beautiful, but that it was a cliffhanger, the story not having a proper ending. She asked him where the happy ending is. But he said there wasn't, so she became sad. Then he told her the meaning of the story. He told her that the girl in the story loved the balloon so much, so she was afraid of losing it. The balloon became her world, but she was chasing something that couldn't even love her back. She met a guy amidst all of that, someone who was willing to love her back. Someone who could make her happier than the previous one.

As he said those things, she couldn't help but think to herself. The girl in the story was a lot like her, they were chasing someone or something that couldn't even love them back. She realized how stupid she had been, how wrong it was for her to make him a part of her world. The day passed, and the next day the guy didn't show up in their usual place. So like the girl in the story she decided to walk around, but she didn't find him anywhere. It was already dark when she decided to go home. She couldn't help but feel sad. Sad because she didn't even got the chance to see him. The next day, he didn't show up again either. And the next day, and the next day, and the next day. Two weeks had passed and still no sign of him. But one day, she finally saw him at the park. She ran towards him, happy to finally see him. She saw him force a smile, unable to hide the pain and sadness in his eyes. She asked him what's wrong, but he didn't reply, tears started streaming down his face.
After a while, with his lips shaking he decided to tell her the truth, the truth that she wished she hadn't known... He was sick, and he was dying, the last two weeks he was gone was spent in the hospital. She started crying, pleading for him to tell her that it was all just a lie. "Please tell me you're lying. Please tell me you're still gonna live. Please... please tell me that you're not gonna die." she cried. But he just stood there in silence. "Please... I can't lose you. Not now, not ever... I love you, please don't leave me." She cried in between sobs, her voice breaking down. "I love you too, but it's far too late. I said it too late, I wish I could've told you before. I wish I could spend more days with you... showing you how much I love you." he said with shaking lips. That day he passed away, with his last words being "I'm sorry and I love you", on the exact place where he told her he loved her, dying in her arms with tears streaming down his face. He was happy, at least he got to see her one last time.

And that is the end of their story... their story that was unlike those fairy tales. It didn't have a happy ending, nor there was magic. But what matters most is not the end, but what took place BEFORE the end. At least they were able to spend their time together happily, loving one another.
