I was finally woken up from yet another nightmare by the one and only, Ava, my twin sister. While most twins hear the words “You two look alike” or “Are you two identical?” we hear “Really? You don't even look alike. At all”, but we really don't look alike. I have blood red hair and violet eyes while Ava has blonde hair and dark orange eyes. The only similarities are a few of our facial features. We aren't very similar personality wise. “Myah, get up! We have to 43 minutes until the bus passes by! Oh and also today is a very special day,” Ava said, well she yelled really. “Why is today a such a special day?” I asked still half asleep. “Don't tell me you forgot.” “No, I didn't” I replied sarcastically. “Well looks like with even very little sleep someone is still able to be sarcastic.” “Yep and I'm proud, but seriously what's so special about today?” I asked sitting up. “It's our birthday silly. May 4th. 14 years living with the only friend I'll ever need.” “You have lots of other friends.” “Yeah, well you're the only one I need or will ever need.” I got up and hugged her tighter than I ever have. “Come on we have to get ready.”
We got ready and headed downstairs. We were greeted by our aunt, Stella. “Happy birthday kiddos!” “Thanks Stell. Where are mom and dad?” “Oh, Macy had to go to work early and Tom went to pick up something.” “So what did dad go to pick up?” “I can’t tell you it’s a secret.” “Oh ok.” Well, here’s the thing, they aren't our biological parents, we were adopted by them. We didn't know anything about our real parents, we have never met them. “Hey kiddo how did you sleep last night? Still having bad dreams?” Asked Stella. “Ehh, and they're nightmares not ‘bad dreams’. It's always the same ” “Ok. Do you want to talk about it later?” “Sure, maybe when I get home from school.” “Okay, see you then kiddo.” “Do you want a ride to school?” “I think we’re good.” “Okay then. Bye kiddos!” she said on her way out the door. I put bagels in the toaster while Ava got our backpacks from our rooms. As soon as she reached the bottom step on her way back down the stairs the popped out and hit the window. Luckily it didn’t break. Being the weird person that I am I decided to randomly say out loud,” because logic.” Ava just stood there confused looking at me, then the window, then the bagel that had bounced off the window and landed on the countertop, then back at me. “You saw that too right?” “Yup. The bus will be there in 6 minutes.” I said grabbing the bagel on my way out.
