The sun is still up as I walk back home. I check my phone and it's 4:15 PM. Perfect time for a Starbucks.
I turn left from my house and go walk into the coffee shop. I wait in line. I don't have enough to get a frappuccino so might as well get me an iced tea.
I order my drink and wait with the other people waiting for their drinks. I take out my phone and go on my social media. A notification pops up on my Instagram. Someone requested to follow me. I open up my Instagram to see who it is.
My heart flutters and I don't know why. It's Lucas! I haven't seen him in a long time. I mean he's just a boy right? Why am I like this?
I accept his request and follow him back. I look at the pictures on his page and I'm not surprised. Look's like he's excited to go to Lane.
Lucas is this really smart guy that I was friends with in middle school and he decided to move to another school for a program that's for smart nerds. Of course he would pass the test. So he left my school to go there. I only knew a few girls that had a crush on him.
I also heard that he tried to ask a girl out in his newish school. Surprisingly, to me, she rejected him.
Lucas was the kindest guy I ever met, after Aiden. He would be really generous when it was a school project. He would give me things without me asking. No wonder Lucas and Aiden were best friends before.
Aiden was also kind. When I lost something I couldn't find, he would help and find it for me. It was weird but kind 'cause he was the only person who helped me those times.
"Iced passion tea with lemonade?" The barista shouts at the counter.
"Thank you." I reply to her as I get my straw out of the wrapper.
"You're welcome." she smiles. She's really pretty with her little black winged eyeliner and perfect teeth to match that perfect smile.
I go to a small table and sit down.
I take a small sip and I finally feel relaxed after a long day. The sweet, cold, lemonade refreshes my foodie soul.
I turn on my phone and check my Instagram. I accept his follow request. I mean, I'm not the only one he's following 'cause he follows other people. Geez, I'm so selfish.
After a few minutes sitting down, I head out the door with my drink. I put on my headphones and turn on some tunes.
I check the time and its 5:05. I should hurry.
My phone rings. It's Bella.
I answer.
"Hey, Julie." It's her comforting voice.
"Hey, Bella. What's up?"
"I dunno. Are you doing okay? Heading home?"
"Yeah."
"What's that noise?"
I look down at my hand with the cup filled with ice. "Oh. I got Starbucks."
"Without me?" I could see the frown on her face.
"Yeah, sorry!" I laugh.
"You owe me." She laughs, too. I'm so lucky to have her as a friend. She gives me life.
"Well. . . Hook up any guys?" she asks.
"No. . . Not yet. Well. . . My old crush followed me on Instagram."
"Omigosh! Who?!"
"Uhhh. Lucas. . ."
"Awww. Cute!" I can see her smiling widely.
"Yeahhh. I don't know. I think I might be missing him."
"You two should really hook up."
"Nah. He's probably into another girl."
"If you say so."
"Well, I'm home now. Talk to you later."
"Bye, love you."
"Love you, too" And in a few seconds I hang up.
