as tyler was walking back to his little studio apartment from his only class that day he decided to stop for coffee. fall had made an early appearance in new york that year. the leaves had turned burnt orange and rusted red tones, and unless you were wearing a heavy jacket, you could feel the wind down to your bones. as he opened the door to the small coffee shop his wandering eyes landed on a beautiful girl with long wavy dirty blonde hair and piercing blue eyes.
the girl was stunning.
'excuse me sir?'
tyler's green eyes stopped staring at the girl and were brought to meet those of a slender woman standing behind the register.
'are you going to order or not? there's a line behind you you know.'
tyler's cheeks turned a light shade of pink due to embarrassment. almost the shade of the light pink roses on the wallpaper that was hugging the walls.
'right sorry' he said as he looked down.
his eyes met the eyes of the woman at the cash once again. 'i'll have a french vanilla cappuccino please and thank you'
tyler paid for his drink and went to sit down, making sure to sit near the girl with the blue eyes.
he desperately wanted to talk to her but he knew his anxiety would make sure that didn't happen.
after mentally preparing what he was going to say, he walked over to the table that the girl was sitting at all by herself.
'hi, um is anyone sitting here?' tyler said shyly.
the girl looked up at him.
'oh, uh, no you can sit here' she grinned at him.
tyler stuck out his hand.
'my name's tyler'
the girl reached out to grab tyler's hand.
'well tyler, my name is rose.'
'what a lovely name' tyler said as he began to smile like an idiot for the first time in what felt like forever.
