What a World

Chapter 1

Introduction

In the year 2025, a mysterious virus began to spread across the world, wiping out everything in its path. It was called Hive. The virus would turn you into a zombie practically, but you are aware of everything happening around you. Your body would turn a pale color, your veins turn black with the virus, you would start having more of the spiky looking plants of the virus growing out of you. The longer the virus stayed in you the more you lost yourself, and the more decayed you looked. It is currently the year 2037, my name is Justice Wild, I'm a mutated fox to have the mindset of an adult human, I'm also 27, this is where the story starts.

It all began when I was only 15, everything was fine, my mother and father were there with me. We were all on the couch together having a blast. Until we heard strange banging on the door. My father went to go check and so did my mother thinking it was someone else. Little did I realize that it was the last time I'd see them again, alive. "Wake up Nick! You're having a nightmare," I wake to see my best friends looking at me with fear in their eyes. I had many nightmares because of that night, and I will never forget that night, the way they looked at me, knowing I couldn't save them. "Are you O.K.?" bonnete asked, she was about my age but she was bionic, meaning she was a robot. Bonnete was given human characteristics, but was given rabbit exoskeleton. "Fine," I responded, "It's that same dream I constantly have," Freddy walked up to me and said, "Don't worry, we will always be here for you.". Freddy was my friend bear, he has been my friend for a very long time. He was older than me by 2 years, but he has been there for me everywhere.

We lived on top of a unfinished building that was meant to be made a while ago. We still haven't found survivors in the city. Finding anything is practically impossible. The Hive have infected so many people that you can barely go anywhere without being seen, yet we survive in this cruel world. Today we saw a plane in the distance, not rescue but supply drop. We would have to get it fast or else our enemy's will. They call themselves The Immoral. They were bad news, and they did bad things to people. If you ever encountered one, your choice was fight or die. I've seen it happen, it was horrible. They always have the best gear, too. Guns the size of small children, armor as strong as diamond, etc. One rule that we have in our hut, never side or be seen by the Immoral. Another was to be back by sun down, I don't even want to talk about what comes out during that time.

"Ready to go guys," I asked. "Almost I need to find my machete," Bonnete responded, "didn't you leave it in the bathroom," "you're right, it's here.". It was always nice to be outside, even though you have to watch out for the Hive and Immoral. "We have to hurry," said Freddy, "we can't let the Immorals reach the supply drop first, time was of the essence. We knew our way across the city in more ways than the Immorals, but they were faster than us, even though they only used the roads. They had these very dangerous dune buggies called Bowlers. They were covered in spikes with no other clearing than a small windshield. "Here we go!". Little did i realize, this trip would change our lives forever.

"There it is, the crates," shouted Freddy, "keep your voice down, We don't know if anyone's close by.". Bonnete was right, even though they were dumb, they had some intelligence in fights. We would need a distraction, but nothing was near us to be used as one. We would have to think fast or else they would be here. "You know what, let's just grab what we can and as soon as they come, lets split," "thats a good idea actually, NOT, what are we going to do outrun a car! Come on Nick you know better, let's just ask the bot," Freddy was mad, but mostly concerned about our safety. "Nick's plan has possibilities, but is to haphazardly, we would need something to lure the Immorals away while we make our break for it." Wasn't such a bad idea, but what would we need to lure them away. I thought about this for a little while, then it hit me, screams, Immorals need as many troops as they needed, so we need a sound distraction. I told them and they agreed.

Later we started grabbing anything we could find, there was so much stuff to collect, but our bags were way too small to fit everything. So we left some unimportant object and hit the road. As soon as we reached a safe point, the immorals came, but something was wrong, very wrong. There were more than two Bowlers coming toward our direction. We didn't even see them coming. We ran as fast as we could, but they were faster in ground, We made a turn in a alley way, seeing about five Hive here, we didn't have time for a fight. We needed to get somewhere higher. "LADDER!" shouted Freddy, it was frail but all we had. 

Freddy went first, then Bonnete, my turn, I hear a screech of tires in the distance, they were close. I started to climb.As soon as they reached the top, the ladder started to break, "Give me your hand," I reached for Bonnete, but it was no use, I fell back into the other building window. "Nick were comi--*" Bang! Bang! The immorals were hear. "Go back to the hut, I'll get there soon." They left and I went the other way. I was in some deep you know what.

It was becoming way too late, the hour on my watch read 20:35. As soon as it read 22:00 I would be done for. "How am I going to get back," I looked out into the vast openness, I saw the base, but it was at least 8 miles away. I looked out the window, I saw many of the Immorals outside my window, they didn't seem to happy. Just as things seemed to be bad, it got worse I heard footsteps outside the door, they knew I was here. I quickly got to my feet and hide on the closet near me. "Hope this will work," I heard them trying to ram the door down. My heart was beating at an alarming rate, and I was heavily breathing. CRASH! The door came down, two immorals came waltzing inside one with heavy duty gear, the other lighter, looked more like a scout. I saw one of them drawing near, "he must be a hunter.". Hunters were alien with a very friendly attitude, but ever since this outbreak occurred, nothing has been the same. I saw it reach for the knob of the door, I readied myself. As soon as he opened the door, I struck knocking down the scout, kniving him 3 times till he died, I heard the other one coming, I was in trouble. I quickly took the scouts pistol and opened fire. Two bullets reflected of his vest, but one somehow hit his head. With a tremendous thud, He came crashing down. I quickly took the rifle, and made a break for it. "Stop," I looked behind me to see three behind me, I wasn't going to stop until I reached the hut. They started to open fire and I quickly jumped from the window down into a pile of trash. "Ouch, that didn't feel good," I quickly got up to find myself in the middle of a horde, no time to think, I would just have to run.

I looked at my watch, 21:45, "crap," I would have to run about 6 miles in less than 15 minutes before doom time. I maneuvered my way through somehow, and ran for it. I looked behind me to find, not Hive, but Immoral vehicles. I could see the hut, "Bonnete! Freddy! I'm here! Help!" I saw them both. They snuck down to a neighboring building, I saw them carrying sniper rifles, planning to fire. They would have to do it fast, or else I'm a gonner. As soon as I made a turn I heard large booms of in the distance. Soon after, I heard crashing vehicles behind me. I stop and turn around to find nothing, but destroyed vehicles. I'm safe. Bang! My side felt like it was burning up. I look down to find a bullet hole in the side of me. I felt nauseous and fall to the ground.

I wake in the hut, I think. "Owwww, what happened," "you're lucky to be alive," I look over to see Freddy sitting next to me. "That shot you took was close to your vital organs, a little over more and you would have been done for," "boy am I lucky.". "While you to talk, we have to pack up we're leaving," Bonnette said, "leaving? Where?" . "There's going to be a rescue ship on top of the tallest building in the city, if we hurry we should make it by sundown.", "luck for us that's very close to where we are.".

We packed up and went on our way. Bonnete gave me a cane to support me with walking. We took many alternate routes to not be seen by the Hive or Immorals. Hours later we arrived. This building really is tall. We walked in. It was disgusting. Dead bodies as far as I could see, children, adults, even pets. "I'm going to be sick." said Bonnette. She looked like it too, for a robot I was surprised. 

We looked around thinking there was no other way to get out of here. "what now," said Freddy, he had a look of hoplessness, "if we can't even make it to a rescue squad that will be safee whats the point of continuing,". I thought for a moment, thinking maybe he was right, would we ever get out of this city off hell. Bonnette looked defeated too, "what a world we live in.".
