In the small town of Madison Grove, there were houses lined up in this little back street know as Roosevelt Lane. On Roosevelt Lane 215 there was this house that seemed weird. Weird in the sense that it was different from all the other houses. It was happy. So happy in fact that it made the other neighbors a little uncomfortable.
The house was huge and old, but was painted light with pink that was different from the other houses of grey. It always had decorations and lights of all sorts, especially this time of year in Christmas. The people who passed by just looked away when they past by. This house was called the 'Odd house', but for the Flowers family it was just called home.
The Flowers family got their name from somebody or another who was an old ancestor. Apparently they had planted the whole town of Madison Grove with flowers when it had started nearly 219 years ago.
The family was whole other story together. Mr. And Mrs. Flowers worked at the school teaching and had 9 children who they were all homeschooling as well. There was Johnny, the youngest, who was 3 and had a particular knack for getting up to places he couldn't be. Everyone always swore that he could fly somehow and he didn't when they were looking. Next was Polly, who was 4, and never seemed to be around except for meals. She was very shy and liked to hide outside in places that no one could find her and play with her toys. Then there was the twins Hector and Hugo, age 6, who were always getting in to trouble. Last month they gassed the entire house with flour from the kitchen, but apparently it was an "accident". William, who was next, was the quiet of the bunch and was extremely smart for 8 years old. However, unlike Polly he wasn't shy he was just always thinking. Melody was the loudest, age 10, and always seemed to annoy William while he was working. Melody jumped around and always added noise to everything. Tiffany, who was the next oldest at 11, always loved hanging out with Melody and playing together. However, she never could focus on anything. Edward, who was the second oldest at 13, always had fun messing with all the other 8 children and playing practical jokes on everyone. Often the twins would try and out do him, but would fail.
The oddest of the children was the oldest. Odd in a way that nobody seemed to like. Her name was Lisset and she was the oldest of all 9 children at 16. She always was looking out for all the others and trying to take care of them to help her parents. However, her favorite thing to do was to climb the high Oak tree in the backyard. There she kept he special stack of books that she loved to read. She read about amazing places in a far off world that she could never go too, because of her parents. Sometimes she just wanted to run away and leave it all behind just to go someplace different; someplace meant for her.
She always had her heads in the cloud and thought about castles and princes and so many places that had adventure. She thought about Why everyone here was ok with being average and ok being "normal." All of her siblings were just the same. Except maybe her brother William who would go off to be a rocket scientist or something, but other than that, everybody was average. She swore to herself that someday she would get away and someday she would go on her own adventure. Little did she know that she would be sooner than she thought.
