The day that Draco came back to class was late on a Thursday morning, during Potions class. His arm was tied into a sling covered in bandages and signed by the distinct gold glittery gel pen of Pansy Parkinson. As soon as he came into class, Pansy walked up to him and smothered him in comfort and reassurance, but as she did so Draco turned to Crabbe and Goyle and winked at them. Professor Snape told the class to settle down and they did, Draco next to Ron as there was nowhere else to sit in the class.
Emerald glared at Draco from across the class for almost the whole lesson, and Draco acted as if he didn't know she was doing so. He pretended his arm was so hurt he couldn't do the task, and got Ron to do it for him. As well as that, Snape was bullying Neville even more than he normally did, which made Emerald even more frustrated, despite her not having talked to Neville since their first year at Hogwarts.
After the lesson, as Emerald and Lily left the classroom, Ron approached them and started talking to Emerald.
"What's your deal?" he asked.
"What are you talking about?" Emerald questioned, extremely confused.
"Why are you doing this stuff to yourself? I get we're mean to you sometimes but you could do so much better than Malfoy" Ron continued.
Lily noticed how aggressive he looked and tried to stop him, "Look, Weasley-"
"Lily, it's fine," Emerald said, stopping her friend from starting a fight, "seriously Ron, what are you talking about?" a small crowd of students had started to gather around the group, eager to see a fight between the two Weasleys.
"Ron, you should probably leave her alone," Potter said. Ron turned and walked away with him, holding his middle finger up at Emerald as he left.

A while after he had returned was the first trip to Hogsmeade─in third year and onwards, students were given the opportunity to go to Hogsmeade village in the weekends. Outside the main entrance a a crowd of Hogwarts students stood in a crowd, chattering away to each other; waiting till they were able to go over.
Lily and Emerald made their way to the crowd, Lily being one of the only Slytherins that was nice to Emerald. They had shared a dorm since first year, but only started speaking a few days before. Lily made Emerald more comfortable in the Girls' dorms so Emerald slept there now, seeing as Draco had returned.
They walked over to where the boys were standing and Emerald realised she'd never introduced them to each other; "This is Lily, she's the girl I abandoned in Pansy's dorm." Emerald said.
"Well," said Blaise, looking Lily up and down - obviously interested in the girl, "don't you look nice. I don't think I've seen you before, I certainly would've remembered it if I had"
