Ava

"Either way, I'm Katara, what's your name?"

I look at her my head cocked slightly to the side. "Katara?" She nodded happily. I ran through where I had heard that name before. "Where am I?" I put my hand to my head trying to soothe the pounding.

"The south pole." My eyes went wide. She had to be lying. "Now come on! My brother Sokka and I have to go fishing. We are going to get you dressed so I can make sure that these fit." She put her arms out in front of her. I grab them and hoist myself up. She lets go of my hands and goes over to the pile of clothes that were neatly folded on the other side of the hut.

She hands me some pants, boots, and gloves. "These are some of Sokka's old pants. I'm sure he won't mind. Now get dressed and come out when you are done." I nod to her and wait for her to walk out. I slip on the pants over my jeans trying to keep as much warmth as I can. I put on the gloves and the boots and look down at myself. I looked okay not the best but it would do.

I step out of the hut and look around. There were more huts and one small fire. Katara was next to a boy who I assume is Sokka. They looked like they were loading things into a small boat. I walk over realizing that the boots were just slightly too large.

The crunch of the snow below me made Katara and the boy look over to me. "Oh your out! This is my brother Sokka, Sokka this is... I'm sorry I didn't catch your name."

I pull up my hood suddenly feeling the cold. "I didn't throw it," I look over to Sokka and hold out a hand, "I'm Ava nice to meet you Sokka." He looks at my hand weirdly and I can't help but wonder where I am that they don't shake hands. I shove the hand in my pocket and look at the boat. "You going fishing?"

"Yup, Village is almost out," Sokka said still packing up the boat.

"Can I go?" Sokka turns around to look at me. I look between Katara and Sokka, while Sokka seemed to be disgusted by the idea Katara just smiled. "I know how my dad used to take me."

"Okay I guess, but don't do anything stupid," Sokka tells me holding the boat with his foot. I smile wide and step in sitting in the middle seat. Katara got in behind me and Sokka got in the lead and started to row. This all seemed so familiar to me.

"It's not getting away from me this time. Watch and learn, girls. This is how you catch a fish." A fish swirls around in front of Katara and I. Sokka leans over the boat spear in hand. Katara leans over the boat and takes her glove off. She takes a shaky deep breath and raises her hand. She moves her hands and the water seemed to move.

She waves her arms around in the air allowing a blob of water to flow up. My jaw drops as I point a finger at the blob of water and inhale shakily making a prolonged gasping noise. "Sokka look!" Katara waved her arms in the air.

"Shhh. Katara, you're gonna scare it away. Mmmm... I can already smell it cookin'!" I look over to Sokka still gasping and pointing my finger.

"But Sokka! I caught one!" I look back at Katara still frightened. She waves her arms making the water blob go directly above Sokka. He pulls back his spear ready to strike at the fish. The spear gets too close to the unstable water blob and makes it pop. Water spills all over Sokka and the fish lands back into the water. "Hey!" Katara complains.

"Ugh! Why is it that every time you play with magic water I get soaked?" Sokka exclaims exasperated. I put my hands to my head. 'Why is this so familiar?!?!?!' What I would give to know what this feeling was inside my head.

Katara sighs out in frustration, "It's not magic. It's waterbending, and it's-"

"Yeah, yeah, an ancient art unique to our culture, blah blah blah. Look, I'm just saying that if I had weird powers, I'd keep my weirdness to myself." You see at this moment Sokka was the one that made sense and Katara was the crazy one. She moved water, with her HANDS! Maybe I'm the crazy one?
