Mia James was the name my mother named a beautiful little girl. Her blonde curls reflecting the bright hospital lights. Mia was the name of my mothers first pet. A fish, koi if you wanted a visual. Mia would grow up all-star, straight A' prom queen. Well, that was where she was heading. One day that beautiful girl would disappear forever. Not taken not dead, just gone.

I often thought about running away, creating a life of adventure and mystery. My father would always say " don't knock it, till' you try it " I might have blown that phrase out of proportion but it was too late to turn back and lock myself back in the cage they call a life.

My mother use to call me Jamie, so when I started to reinvent myself I thought to myself, what would Jamie look like. Sliding on a pair of latex gloves, I started to flat iron the kinky locks of white I had on my head, strand by strand watching the curls disappear one after another, I noticed that I looked completely different with long hair. " bingo " I mumbled to myself. I rip opened the box, shook step 1 and 2 together and slapped the dark thick solvent of brown in my hair. About an hour later I now had wavy brownish black hair and I looked nothing like a mia. Rushing to my room running by my clock, 2:03 am. I grabbed two backpacks and filled them with clothes. Travel light I said to myself. I had already quit my job the night before. With $5,000 in the pocket, I should be fine. Grabbing my things and a few bottles of water, and the keys to the convertible my father had left behind for me. No one believed I would go, so now they will live in the suspense of my existence. Without a goodbye, without a note, without a trace, I had everything under control.
