Jackson was starting to notice it more and more now.

His jawline, the nape of his neck, his soft, red lips and plump, round face. The way his violet coloured eyes shimmered in the dim light and the way his black hair, so dark it seemed almost blue, fell on his face, crowning it perfectly. The way he laughed, so loud and unkempt; the way he grinned, eyes alight with happiness.

Even thinking about it was beginning to make Jackson flush. He almost wished he hadn't suddenly become more perceptive to his companion. He almost wished he could go back to only seeing Robert as a friend and nothing more.

What made it worse was the fact that Jackson was fully aware that Robert liked him back. No matter how oblivious Jackson would seem it was hard to miss the signs; the way Robert became flustered when near Jackson, the way he was almost always blushing, the way he fidgeted and fumbled with his glassed when talking to Jackson.

At first it was a minor annoyance, a distraction however now Jackson couldn't help but fall deeper in love with every flushed stutter from Robert. Not even he was sure when the feelings of annoyance turned to love but now Robert was the only thing Jackson could think of.

Which was a bad thing, considering Mr Jackson was a detective. He should have been thinking about the case at hand and not about pressing his thin, wiry frame against Robert's chubby one, hands and legs entangled together, so close they could feel each other's heart beating wildly in their chests...

"Mr Jackson?"

Jackson blinked out of his fantasy. Robert's face was only a few inches from his, eyes full of concern. Jackson leapt back, surprised, and hit his head on the wall behind him. As he clutched his ringing head he tried to desperately get his fantasy out of his head.

"Oh my god, please be more careful sir!" Robert exclaimed, reaching a hand out to Jackson's head. Jackson flinched at Robert's touch but his hands were warm and soft as he patted Jackson's hair lovingly. Jackson had to bend down slightly so Robert could reach his head, he was tall enough but Robert happened to be quite small as well. Jackson just found the height difference incredibly cute.

He found everything about Robert cute nowadays.

"I'm alright," Jackson said with a nervous laugh as he drew away from Robert. "My head is harder than a boulder I'll have you know!" He added jokingly. He was awarded with an amused "harrumph" from Robert.

"I made you tea," Robert said, picking up a mug from the desk and passing it to Jackson. "Your paperwork pile hasn't seemed to lessen at all, you must be exhausted," he added, glancing at the growing pile mounted beside Jackson.

That's because Ive been doing nothing but think of you, Jackson thought guiltily.

It was raining outside, the sound splattered against the window loudly. A typical british afternoon. Jackson and Robert were the only ones in the office that day, everyone else was taking the day off for it was christmas eve. However the paperwork was more important than festivities so Jackson had come into work, Robert was only there because he had said he would rather die then have to join his family for christmas.

"Would you like me to help?" Robert asked, gesturing to the paperwork.

"That would be great," Jackson said gratefully, sitting back down into his chair. Robert drew another one to the opposite side of the desk and sat down. The two worked for the next few hours, making no conversation at all save the occasional sneeze and "bless you".

Eventually, with the abnormally large pile now down to a small amount, Jackson leant back and sighed.

"That's enough for one day," he said, stretching his aching muscles and yawning. It had already become dark outside, night now setting faster than ever
