I flicked my mane of red hair back as I tried to open my locker, it always being a struggle for me as it was underneath some really mean chick called Abigail. I finally managed to open it, and when I did, I shoved all of my books in there from my Humanities class I just had.
As I was standing back up, I felt something hard shove into my back, causing me to fall back down.
"Oi!" I exclaimed, rubbing the back of my head where it hit the concrete. I looked up to see the smirking faces of Bree, Jade and Melodie. Inwardly, I sighed.
"What do you girls want?" I asked, a bored tone in my voice, pushing myself up off of the ground so I wouldn't have to stare up at them. Not that it made much of a difference. As I stood up, I realised I only came up to Bree's elbows, Jade's shoulders and Melodie's high waist line. I mean, I guess I did see that coming, considering they're in year 12 and I've only just started year 7.
Bree made a disgusted face before saying, "Eww! Don't speak unless I tell you to, okay Vigi?!" I rolled my eyes, then corrected her.
"My name's Veridia, not whatever you just called me." I told her, not caring what was about to happen.
The girls heads all snapped up at this, before the closed in on me.
"Listen here you little freak! You better not talk back to me again, or else it WILL be the death if you!" She exclaimed before slapping me in the face and motioning to the girls to have a go.
Melodie stepped forward, causing me to back up and hit the lockers behind me. I wasn't that scared of Melodie, everyone knew she was one of the weakest girls in the school. As she raised her hand to slap me, I awaited for the blow that came within seconds.
I opened my eyes when it was done and shrugged my shoulders. Melodie saw this, and glared at me, hoping it would affect me somehow, but it didn't.
Lastly, it was Jade. Now, she's the one I'm scared of. Pretty much everyone knows that she has a mean right hook. I closed my eyes and hoped this punch wouldn't kill me.
Suddenly, all I could feel was pain and hot blood running down the side of my face. I fell to the ground in shock, blood dripping all over the ground. My eyes were still closed from the pain and I could hear the three girls footsteps walking away along with the sound of their annoying laughs. I felt somebody watching me, but I shook the feeling away, struggling on trying to get up.
Slowly, I managed to push myself back up, and wipe away what I hoped was most of the blood. I closed my locker and quickly made my way towards the bathroom, thinking of an excuse if anyone was in there and asked me why I was bleeding. As I got to the bathroom, I cautiously opened the door, hoping nobody was in there. To my luck, there wasn't, and I stepped inside, hastily shutting the door behind me. I walked over to the mirror, and what I saw relieved me. It was only a small cut from what must of been one of Jade's rings. I touched my jaw tenderly, slowly rotating it back and forth to make sure it wasn't broken. Much to my relief, it was only bruised.
As I was cleaning away the blood on the side of my head, I saw a figure standing behind me. I jumped, and turned around to see Jaimy, a girl from my core group stating at me.
"Hello?" I said hesitantly, aware that I had still had a bit of blood on my face and that it was still running down the sink into the drain. She continued to stare at me with a blank expression, so I started to wash my face again. As I was doing this, I heard Jaimy's quiet voice behind me asking what happened.
"I tripped." I told her, before walking out of the bathroom.
As I got back outside, I felt like I was being watched again, and turned around in a circle slowly, scanning everybody before deciding I was being paranoid. I walked back towards my locker as the bell was going and I needed to get my books for my next class, English. I managed to get my things out without being shoved to the ground, which was a first.
