Intro
This story is about a girl named Leah. She was born to a drug addict mother and an alcoholic father. When she was just 2 months old, her father left. Her mother then cleaned up her act. Leah has social struggles of her own. Will she make it through school?
Chapter 1 "Growing up"
With just her mother, Leah was turning out alright for the most part. Her mother, Elise, cared for her very very much and often took her to carnivals and bought her cute outfits. When Leah was four years old, her mother couldn't help but notice how socially awkward her daughter was. She felt as if she had failed as a mother.
Chapter 2 "School"
As school was approaching Elise grew worried about Leah's grown up interests. On the first day of school Leah was very excited. The day before school, Leah got a pretty purple skirt and a matching purple sleeveless shirt with a kitten on the front. Elise made blueberry pancakes (Leah's favorite). Leah squealed, " Thanks mommy!" She smiled back. As 7:00 was approaching it was time to drive to school.
Chapter 3 "Being Different"
Lots of children said their goodbyes with two parents. Leah had noticed she hadn't had a father. She hadn't questioned her mother because it was just so normal to her. As the day went on many of the kids were considered dumb to her and she knew all the answers to every question. She wasn't interested in recess very much. She read her books.
Chapter 4 "The Worst Day Ever"
School took a downfall as Leah got older. Being smart wasn't as cool. Leah approached her locker and dropped her books in shock of what was all over her locker. There was notes posted all over saying things like "loser" and "you don't belong". She could only stare teary eyed in shock. The kid next to her, Jimmy Parker, told her, " You are a worthless brainiac!" And kicked her books to the middle of the hall. She left the notes there and hurried to her class. During lunchtime she looked for open room to sit. She saw 2 girls at a table and hoped she could become their friends. She put her lunch down and said, " Hello, I'm Leah." One of the girls, Jade Clements, muffled, " I heard about you and you're a total loser!" The other girl, her sister Chloe, stayed silent. She stared for awhile and screamed, " Go!!". Leah jumped up from the table and ran to the bathroom with her brown paper lunch bag. Since her bullying started she always looked into purging and cutting. She ate her lunch in the cold, smelly stall. She started to cry and her black mascara started staining her eyes. She leaned over the toilet and stuck get finger down her throat and out went her lunch. She cried even more. Leah looked at the clock and it was 12:30 already so she flushed the toilet and redid her mascara and ran out. Nobody noticed what had gone on. She returned to her locker only to see the words " Your dad didn't love you" printed boldly in sharpie. The day went on and just before she left school she unscrewed the blade from her pencil sharpener and placed it in her pocket. She ran out the door of the school and began her journey home.
Chapter 5 "The Blade"
Leah opened the door and her mother, like usual, wasn't home. "Probably out buying drugs", she thought aloud to herself. Leah ran up to her room and quietly shut the door behind her. She took the blade from her pocket and carefully washed it. She knew she could get infected if it was dirty. She slowly dragged the blade across her arm firmly. The blood began rushing out as she cut some more. Leah yelped out sometimes but she found relief in this. As she finished her "masterpiece" she felt weak and laid on the floor next to her bloody blade. She waited for her mother to come home but she didn't that night. Leah wasn't even hungry for dinner anyways. She slept the whole night. Her mother returned at 4:00 in the morning very tired and grumpy. Leah woke up to the smell of alcohol, not her favorite smell of blueberry pancakes she used to love.
