Lyra stared out her window, book in hand. She was sitting on her bed in an apartment her dad was renting. The apartment was 20 stories high, and Lyra enjoyed looking at the bustle of people and flying cars below. Lyra's room had a twin sized bed next to a huge window, and her bookshelf was right by her bed. Her bookshelf was full of sketchbooks and all sorts of stories.
Lyra was very beautiful: she has one white eye, and one blue eye. Her hair was pure white and her body was very slender. Lyra was an artist, writer, and reader. Writing was especially one of her favorite things to do; she finds inspiration from the people around her and in her dreams. Lyra found that whenever she would write a story, it would vaguely come true. For instance, if she wrote about a prince fighting a dragon, the same day she wrote the story there would be a man in the streets fighting his pet giant lizard.
Lyra slid off of her bed, stretched, then walked over to her giant pet owl, Rodger.
She patted him on the head, "Well, I better check on how dads doing."
Rodger wiggled his big wings as a reply.
Lyra went in the bathroom, and stared at her exhausted face. She had dark circles under her eyes from staying up too late and her hair was a mess. She lazily put her hair in a messy bun.
"Dad," Lyra croaked as she walked into the kitchen, "do you need help with making din-"
Lyra's dad was lying on the floor, and smoke started pouring out of the oven.
"DAD?!" Lyra yelled, "DAD WAKE UP!"
He jolted awake and grabbed Lyra's arm. His eyes were red and his face was pale.
"Lyra," His voice sounded hoarse and scratchy, "I need you to get out of this city! They are coming and they won't stop until they find you and the others. Find your sister then use our boat to get out of here."
"Dad? Are you okay?!" Lyra panicked, "They? Who's they?! Others?!"
Lyra's dad stood up and limped to the window, "There's no time to explain! Whatever you do, don't look up, don't get distracted, and just keep on running!"
The ground started shaking and Lyra heard airplanes above.
He started to panic, "Go! Don't worry about me! It'll be too late if you linger here for much longer!"
Lyra slipped on her shoes, called a taxi, and jumped out the window. Everything was a blur. The flying taxi swooped under her and Lyra fell hard on the floor of the vehicle.
"Building D, Apartment 13!" Lyra gasped for breath.
The taxi driver slammed his foot on the pedal. As they were flying over the city, Lyra noticed the panic of people below. Men and women where rushing their children outside and flying away in their cars. The sky turned grey and rain poured out of the clouds. I looked up. Lightning and thunder shook the earth like the roar of a lion and four airplanes soared above with the logo of a red snake on the side.
The driver dropped Lyra off at the window of a tall, white building. Lyra opened the the window with a push of a button.
She sprinted into her sister's bedroom, "Aurora! We have to go, now!"
"What's going on!?" Aurora was in the middle of brushing her blonde hair.
"There's no time for brushing hair," Lyra grabbed her arm and dragged her out of her room, "dad said they are coming! Do you know who they is?"
"Oh no..." Aurora's face went pale, "the time has come..."
  "Just tell me!" Lyra shouted.
"They is a secret society called TRV. TRV stands for The Red Viper. They are against anyone with special abilities because they think it's 'different' and 'unusual', so they do experiments on the 'special people'."
Lyra opened the window, "I didn't even know people had powers!"
"No, I think you do know. You have them." Aurora jumped out the window with Lyra into a floating car, "they are coming for you, Lyra. They won't stop until you and the others are captured."
"But, I'm not special! I just sit at home and read! I'm nothing. I'm just one of the millions of people in this city."
Aurora started up the car, "Have you ever had something unusual happen to you? Something that was out of the ordinary?"
Lyra thought for a bit, "I guess so... my stories vaguely come to life but I bet it's just a coincidence!"
"No, Lyra!" We zoomed across the sky, "There are other kids like you! And they practice their powers and get stronger. But the TRV is the only thing stopping them."
Lyra panicked. Her palms became sweaty and she started shaking. Her mind couldn't wrap around what was happening. Suddenly:
"AURORA! WHATCH OUT!" Lyra pointed to their left.
An out-of-control vehicle came spinning towards them and crashed into the side of their car. The side of their car was crushed and they were plummeting towards a tall building.
📚
Lyra's ears were ringing and noticed she was still in the car. Lyra felt a sharp pain: a glass shard was sticking straight through her right arm. Her blood dropped to the ground far below. She realized she was hanging upside down, only held back by her seatbelt. The back of the car was stuck in the side of a building, upside down, hanging by a thread.
Aurora was seated by Lyra, unconscious, "AURORA!"
  Aurora didn't answer.
"P-please don't leave me..." Lyra stuttered, beginning to feel felt dizzy.
Smoke clouded up the air. Lyra saw the blur of a red truck in front of her. It went right under their car. Lyra assumed it was there to save them, so she unbuckled both of their seat belts. Lyra slammed hard on the truck and was knocked unconscious.
