YANNIE gave a tug on her end of the fishing line and discovered a sluggish weight. In her left hand she gripped a fat roll of coarse-grained cork. Her right hand unwound the line from the cork roll and fed the slack into the ocean. She gave the line again another tug, and again felt the resistance.
'Maybe it was a rock cod, more likely seaweed.'---- She thought
"Got something?" Said Gavin and suddenly sits beside her.
"Nothing, a snag" She replied but remained face-out to the sea.
Bored na si Yannie sa ginagawa niya because she didn't catch anything since she starts fishing. Di naman niya talaga hilig mangisda, she just suddenly grab the fishing rod and fished, nagbabakasakaling maiibsan nun ang boredom that strikes her earlier. Nasa isang fishing area sila ngayon dahil sinama siya ng kanyang Ina for some business matter kuno. The guy beside her chuckles, inis niya itong nilingon at inirapan.
"Easy, natatakot ata yung mga isda sayo"
"What? Duh! Whatever, I don't even care, and... Pwedeng umalis ka nga! Ang panget mo!!!"
"Panget pala ah, kaya nga gusto mo ko eh, diba?"
"Argh! Asa ka! Just.. Go!!! Shoo! Makita ka ni Mommy, siguradong---"
Naputol agad ang sinasabi niya ng sumulpot ang Mommy ni Yannie sa kawalan.
"Yannie!!!"
Called her Mom, she rolled her eyes heavenwards and face her super strict Mom.
"What are you doing----" naputol ang sasabihin niyo when she noticed Gavin, "Wait, anong ginagawa mo dito? Di ba sabi ko sayong layuan mo ang anak ko!!!"
"Argh!!! MOM!!!"
"Ahm, Mrs. Sarmiento, g-gusto ko po si Yannie. I-I just want to ask if... Ahm, if I can court your d-daughter po"
'Oh fvck, why am I stammering? Tss, of course, matagal ko na siyang gusto, and I just confess my feelings in front of her oh-so-strict-mother... this is great. Damn great 😑'---- He thought.
Yannie jaw literally drop nang magsink-in ang lahat sa utak niya. While her Mom...clenched her jaw.
"What??? You're too young for it!"
"Mom! I'm not a kid anymore!"
Angal ni Yannie sa Mama niya, well, she actually had a big crush on Gavin so dapat lang na magprotesta siya sa sinabi ng Mommy niya.
"Yes you're not!!! But your not even mature enough for this! Masasaktan ka lang!--"
"Ma'am, I won't hurt your daughter---" biglang singit ni Gav but agad pinutol ng Mommy ni Yannie.
"Shut up! I'm not talking to you!!! And... Did you just said 'You'll not hurt her'? Seriously???" She laughed sarcastically.
