I'm sure some of you have moved away to a different state, town, or just house in the area. And moving can be very difficult. But have you ever moved out of the country? Out to a foreign place with different culture, customs, and ways of living?
My mum and I were born in New Zealand, but she met my dad afterwards in Utah after visiting temple square. (So no, I don't know who my biological father is.)
But I had grown up in Utah pretty much all my life. When I was about 8 years old my parents decided to move to New Zealand, and I was pretty young at the time, so I didn't think much of it, I didn't even realise that's where my mum was from (even though she had a strong accent.)
Any who, moving there wasn't really a big trial in my life, moving back was though. We only lived there for one year, but it was amazing. Our primary (elementary) school was really fun, that had a lot of fundraisers, camps, dance classes, and activities. The culture there was absolutely amazing.
It was really hard for me, and especially my mum to move back, because we finally learned where our home is. While we were there, we lived with our grandparents, aunts and uncles. We went camping with them, went out to activities with them, and were really close because most of us all lived in one big house. My grandad was Samoan, and my Grandma was Australian, so there was even more history there.
The friends I had made there were funny, nice, and outgoing. I remember us playing in this magical world of black and white kingdoms, which reigned by the trees in the fields at recess. I remember watching mako mermaids for the first time, and pretending I was a mermaid when I went to the water. I remember walking to the beach from our house, and watching the sunset from the shore. When you live in amazing places around the world, you learn to recognise the beauty in the world.
Because I moved back to the same place as before, it wasn't difficult for me to get back my old friends, and I was also only 9, so we made a lot.
Whether moving to a country foreign or familiar, it's always fun to find new cultures, lifestyles, and friends. If you are moving, don't worry, you'll have fun.
A/N: If anyone needs someone to talk to, you can message me. My extended family has been all over the world, so I might know something. I might not be the best advice giver, and I may be a random stranger, but you never know. I know how you feel.
