Chapter 23- E for Embarrassing Dinner

Start from the beginning

"Well I thought it was the right thing to do." Muttered Sally.

I ignored Sally's comment and kept pacing back and forth with anger. "I was so happy that I was not going to see that jerk, but oh no my so called friend called him to dinner."

"Calm down Myra." Sally spoke softly.

"Calm down! Calm down! You want me to bloody calm down! I am so angry!" I shouted as I hit my hand against the worktop. "OH MOTHER OF FUDGE CAKE!" I shrieked as soon as my hand made contact with the hard worktop and quickly jerked my hand away. I cradled it against my chest to see if I didn't hurt it too bad.

Sally quickly ran to the freezer and took out a bag of ice. "Here."

"Thanks." I muttered softly.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing."

"Well something is up."

"I just thought I didn't have to see his face today and I was really happy until you mentioned that he's coming over." Well I didn't lie I just omitted a small part of the truth.

"I'm sorry."

"It's not your fault...actually it is." I smirked at her.

"Well if you really think about it he might not come, I mean he's a billionaire with a workload up to his head he might have forgotten or didn't take this offer seriously. "

"Yeah I guess so." I shrugged my shoulders.

"So will you make the dessert?"

"You just said he might not come."

"Yeah the keyword is might."

"Fine! But you owe me then." I narrowed my eyes at her.

"Yes okay." She smiled at me. After a very long debate Sally decided to make a Trifle for dessert. While I was making the dessert the only thing going through my head was Ethan Cole. Oh don't worry there's nothing nice going through my head, only cussing the damn man. As I was layering the cream on top of the custard the doorbell rang making me jump in fright. "Get the door." I yelled at Sally knowing she would be somewhere in the apartment.

"Okay." I heard her muffled noise.

I could hear some voices mumbling away in the living room, I tried to listen carefully trying to distinguish whose voice it was but I failed miserably.

"Myra Dawn, what on earth happened here?"

As those words rang into my ear with that particular voice I wish I was anywhere other than here. I turned around to see my mother all dolled up in her elegant dress with diamond earrings. There was something weird happening here; I couldn't put my finger on it. Why was my mother dressed up? She never wears diamond earrings unless it's something special.

"Mother." I squeaked.

"Well...." My mother raised her eyebrow waiting for me to respond to her question.

"Oh I was preparing for dinner but things went out of hand, thanks to Myra she's helping me to make the dessert." Sally spoke up.

"Oh you poor duckling." My mother spoke tenderly at Sally.

"Well you ladies go get ready and leave the rest to me I will sort it out."

"Really?" Sally asked.

"Yes and make sure you wear something elegant for dinner."

"Mother, why are you dressed up for?" I couldn't help but ask.
