Naruto is not mine, nor is Gaara.

We were lying on the bed together when there was knock at the door. I sighed, and waited for Gaara to say something.

“Who is it?” he called out.

“Kankuro.”

I closed my eyes. Well, there was our quiet time ruined.

“Come in,” Gaara called out.

Kankuro and Temari walked in.

“We aren’t intruding on anything, are we?” Temari asked, eyeing us suspiciously.

Gaara drew me closer to him, my back up against his chest, his arms around my waist.

“No,” Gaara said calmly.

Suddenly, there was a stabbing pain in my chest.

No! Not now!! I thought.

There was another stab of pain, but this one did not vanish.

I cringed in pain, my body tensing.

A terrible memory flowed into my head.

***Flashback (For your convenience)***

Kisame got up off the ground, standing above me. He carelessly wiped away some of the blood on my neck.

He had just carved his name into my chest, pouring a purple liquid into the wound.

“What...what did you do?” I asked, pushing myself up onto one elbow.

“It’s a poisoned mark. You are fine while I am nearby, but the further and longer you are away from me, the more it will harm you. The pain will start at dusk and end at dawn. Eventually, the pain will  kill you.”

***End Flashback***

“Storm?” Temari asked, staring at me.

But sadly, the pain and terror of the night had only just begun.

My breathing became disjointed, and I started shivering.

The pain increased more and more, until it was too much to bear.

I groaned in pain as Gaara rolled me onto my back.

The poisoned mark burned, creating pain throughout my entire body.

It burned and itched, and I pressed my hands down above it, just stopping myself from scratching at it.

“Storm, what's going on?” Gaara asked, worry all over his face.

The pain continued increasing, a sign of how long I had been away from Kisame.

As the pain increased, so did the intensity of my shivering.

My breathing became even more disjointed.

I bit my lip, trying to stop the tears.

Gaara placed his hand on my forehead.

“She's boiling hot,” he breathed.

I closed my eyes, cringing, wishing the pain would stop.

I groaned, and felt tears on my cheeks.

The pain got worse and worse.

“Get some medics, now,” Gaara ordered Kankuro, who I heard run out of the room.

I felt Gaara's hand pull mine away from my chest.

Someone arranged my shirt so they could see Kisame's name, glowing bright blue, the source of my pain.
