Emilia's P.O.V
I made it to Bryce to show her the bloomed flower but before I turned a corner I heard arguing and paused. I slowly took a step forward and saw through a tiny creak in one of the shelfs with flowers on them my boss and Bryce, neither of them looked happy.
"We are really busy today, she can't help you." Bryce said with authority in her voice while she tried to size up the 6'3 beast (Bryce is 5'10) my bosses face was only getting redder by the second and I got goosebumps. I had to do something before he hurts her..
"Listen here, you need that damn money right? Well you ain't gon' get it if she doesn't do this damn job for me! We don't want you two pretty young gals to be living in the slums." He stepped closer to her, my hands started shaking. "Now do we." He whispered the last part and I almost dropped the flower pot but heard it hit the shelf I was hiding behind and took off my gloves and put them in my pocket as I made my way over there.
"I'm so sorry boss, I was caught up with a customer. Is there anything I can help you with?" I tried my best smile while his brows furrowed and his mouth dipped into a deep scowl.
"Took ya' long enough. Meet me in our place in 30 minutes, I'll give ya time to do some work but if you're even a sec late then you gon' regret it." He whispered his deadly venom in his country accent and left the store.
Bryce looked at me with a smile and hugged me, "You go work in the back and I'll work up in the front." She waved me off but I quickly remembered the flower and told her to wait while I went to go grab it.
I went behind the corner of the shelf but couldn't find the flower. " I left it here though?" I was deeply confused and moved a few flower pots to see if a customer accidentally pushed it behind another flower pot (customers tend to this a lot)
I started to panic and checked underneath the shelf and found it.
   The soil was splattered.
The flower was barely in the pot.
"I didn't do this. I knew I didn't drop it because I heard it hit the shelf."
Someone else did this. I sighed and ran a hand through my hair, debating if I should clean this up right now or find another flower for Catherine and Racheal remembering that they were still waiting for me but they were probably flirting with the prince or the bodyguard. I decided to just pick out the pot, the left over soil and the flower so I can re-plant it and put it away for now.
Before I walked away I went to tell her about the flower but instead saw her at the cash register's desk talking to the Prince himself and I knew that the smile on her face real as she talked to him. I giggled to myself as I went to the back.
Bryce's P.O.V
I laughed at the prince's jokes he was telling me, The man himself asked if I could just talk to him so that Denise would leave him alone with all of her 'flirty' attempts. It's nice to know that Emilia and I aren't the only ones that are tired of Denise in this town.
"I didn't know that the governor of New Orleans was a suck up!" I laughed again at the new information the prince told me. Apparently the governor or Orleans was a big a** kisser to his family!
"Don't change your mind of him though he is very good at his job and keeps Orleans a very civilized place." The Prince reassured while grinning his perfect grin, the man was attractive for sure but had a good boy nature that wasn't really my type.
"I know my bodyguard Noah did this earlier when we came into your lovely store but, may I kiss your hand?" He asked and his eyes sparkled, we were talking and just being friendly acquaintances and he had to make it awkward. Like most guys do, I just thought that the prince was a little different..guess not.
I shook my head a little signifying no and he chuckled and scratched the back of his neck.
"I'm sorry but my hands are too dirty." I gave a pathetic excuse and he waved his hand.
"That's alright I-" the Prince was caught off while Cathrine and Racheal were practically screeching his name and skipping towards him and Emilia was walking a few steps behind them and walked right next to me, a few customers looked toward the commotion but went quickly back to what they were doing.
"I'm sorry but please keep it down in here, this is a quiet environment." I said in a low voice, Cathrine looked apologetic and whispered a quick sorry while Rachel straight up ignored me. Ouch. But Emilia looked proud as she pointed to the flower they were holding in their hands with pride in her eyes.
I quickly noticed that it was the Amaryllises that we started to grow a week ago.
I felt joy just looking at the beautiful flower.
Emilia's P.O.V
The Amaryllis actually wasn't ruined at all, the splattered soil fooled me into thinking that the flower needed to be replanted but I was so happy to see that I was wrong.
I brought the flower over to Cathrine and Racheal and they smiled so big their faces had to hurt and they went off the find the prince, I walked after them to find Bryce.
The girls screamed for the Prince and I found him giggling with Bryce and I felt all squeezey inside and started to think if he had an interest in her.
I walked right next to Bryce and pointed to the flower and saw her smile with joy.
I felt like a mother proud of her child for winning an award or something.
The phone started ringing and Bryce immediately answered it. I looked back and saw the prince thank the girls for the flower and waited for me to check him out. Even though the girls said that they wanted to show him the flower noting that they were probably gonna buy it for him.
He gave me 40 dollars (IN FREAKING CASH) and I gave him a smile and typed it in the cash register and went to give him his money back but he shook his head and pushed my small hand holding his money with his muscular hand back to me.
"Keep it." He winked at me and walked over to Noah who somehow showed up in the scene with Denise and Kendall draped over his arms but the weird thing is, he didn't look happy and right when the prince walked over to him they exchanged words that the girls couldn't hear and said goodbye to the girls, earning whining back and they left quickly while Noah kept a hand on the princes shoulder.
They looked a little spooked.

Sh*t I forgot about boss.

Oh no.
I tapped Bryce's shoulder and pointed out in the backyard, telling her with my hands and eyes that I was gonna go and meet with boss. She just nodded her head and answered whoever was on the other line. I ran outside and went to my old tree house to see my boss talking on the phone, I swallowed a big lump in my throat as I made my way over to him, making sure that no one was watching or following me.
"I don't care if you don't believe me because he was just here you stupid old hag!" My boss raised his voice at the phone and shut it off and shoved it in his pocket.
A little while after my family left I would just sit in my old home doing nothing but stare at the wall. I had nothing to do. I didn't have a job and I couldn't go to school, it would just be too hard. Bryce and I graduated early because of our parents but we weren't missing much.
At the time Bryce was coping with her family abandoning her by working on nothing but her greenhouse. I remember one day I tried to go over to see how she was doing and one of her sisters favorite plants had died and she was crying so badly I started to cry.
Those times were severely hard for us but I met my boss one day and he gave me a spot on his secret assassination corp. and that's how Bryce and I got our shop up and running and how we survive with food and warmth.
I don't like killing people for money but my boss tells me that these people all have committed horrible crimes that the courthouse did nothing about and let the 'savages' (my boss likes to call them) go and be free and continue their merciless path.
Over the last year I have probably assassinated probably over 70% of criminals.
It's actually not that bad in the S.A.C (Secret Assassination Corporation) some people have killed over 1,000's. So consider me lucky.
Don't get me wrong the shop does incredibly well with customers and money but it isn't enough to pay mortgage and for food, that's why I have the S.A.C on as my side job so Bryce and I can live happy lives.
Bryce isn't very happy with my job and I understand that I mean..wouldn't you be upset if your best friend you knew since you've both been in diapers killed people as a side job.
Boss angrily tapped his foot on the ground, not noticing that I was there even though I was right in front of him.
I cleared my throat and he kept ignoring my presence as i awkwardly stood there rocking back and forth on my feet.
"Was that your wife on the-"
"Yes. I told her that the prince was here and the stupid lardass didn't believe me!" Boss angrily raised his voice and pulled out a cigar and lit it, his tattoos on his wrists showing through his worn out black gloves.
The boss is verbally abusive with his wife but has never layed a hand on her, his wife is very slow and from rumors she used to be a princess of an old torn apart country that was invaded by the hispanics, she and her family fled to Ravensmark and every time something that has to do with the royals in the newspaper she has a field day, That's why boss was calling her and telling her about the prince being here.
I guess that's kind of sweet?
"Look I got a job for ya. It's very important that you kill this bastard before he ruins this town." Boss spoke between puffs of his cigar.
"Do you have a file?" I asked. I tell Bryce I have a hard time reading so that I don't have to read the newspapers and see my victims headlines in the paper, I understand that the people I kill are evil but I still have some humanity in me and reading the articles about the latest killing would hurt me too much. Those people could have family's and I was taking them away from their lives.
Sorry, I over think a lot.
I coughed while trying to breathe through the fumes.
My dad smoked.
I still have the burns.
"Of course I have the file ya dumb loon." Boss pulled the file out of his side jacket and smacked it over my head like a dad would do with his son if he lost a baseball game.
Boss put the pale file in my hands and I looked through it, skimming page by page reading the victims stats, age, height. I turned the the fourth to last page of the file and..
And..

My next victim is the Prince of New Orleans.

And it says I have to kill him in the next 6 weeks.

Holy sh**.
