Nadia
Finishing the last second of the song the eleven of us stood in our final position. We broke the position and slid to the ground, sweat dripping down our faces and panting as we caught our breath. Today we had been working on a contemporary and modern dance which required a lot of spins, jumps, and flexibility.
"Well that was tiring," Evan, one of the dancers said.
"What did you expect?" I asked rolling my eyes at him.
"It's just different from our usual hip hop dances," he said shrugging and then proceeded to get up.
I agreed but as the choreographer and leader of the group we had to change our style for our competitions. Our group mainly consisted of guys except for me and one other girl named Tori. Everyone began to pack up their stuff and we all left the studio. The guys slowly left until Tori and I were the only ones left.
"Nadia, wanna hang out? Maybe sometime today at night?" she asked looking at me hopefully.
"Yeah, that's sounds great! Just text me where you wanna go," I said.
A black car pulled up and the door opened revealing Tori's older brother.
"Tori!" he yelled waving her over and she looked at me with an apologetic smile.
"I'll text you," she said and made her way to the car, getting in.
I watched them drive away. As soon as they did my phone began ringing as I saw the name of the contact. Mom. Great. I answered the call and immediately flinched at the loud screaming voice from the other end.
"Nadia! Where the hell are you? My boyfriend is coming over and he is bringing some of his friend's sons. You better get your ass over here and help me make the food," she yelled.
"Okay mom. I will," I said trying to sound as cheerful as possible despite my mom's yells and my growing impatience.
She immediately cut the line. I kicked at a rock on the ground watching it roll into the grass. Wait, people over for dinner? The guys coming over? I wouldn't be able to hang out with Tori tonight.
Damn it.
I began walking into the city ignoring the stares from guys on the street. I finally reached the place I was looking for. It was just the bar that my siblings owned. Opening the door I was immediately hit with the blinding lights and loud music. Both of my brothers helped mix the drinks, while my sister served the tables. The drinks were pretty good here as I sneaked a few here and there.
"Nadia," I heard and turned to see Jaxon standing there.
"You guys done yet? Mom called me and apparently we have company coming over," I said.
"Company?" he asked, raising his eyebrows.
"Mom's so called boyfriend and his friend's sons," I replied.
"Oh yay! I just love dinner parties," Jaxon said sarcastically.
He turned and walked away and I made my way to the back room. My twin, Scorpios was in there cleaning up. I made my way to him and he turned around.
"Hey, how was practice?" he asked.
"Hectic as usual," I said sighing as I sat down on the couch.
"Anything else?" he asked.
"I was going to have plans with Tori but now we have this dinner party," I grumbled.
"I see," he said.
I heard the door to the bar open and we both went to see who it was. Our mom and a whole lot of guys were standing there. I spotted our step siblings, Jaxon and Eliza glaring at our mom. I wouldn't blame them at all. They were unwillingly made part of our rather messed up family and due to that we helped them get out of anything dealing with our mom. My mom turned and saw me there.
"Nadia, get home right now and make the food," she hissed.
I groaned and left the bar, making my way home.
