Syntax Error

Humans were born to betray. That's the simple science everyone has to stitch to their heart if they are hoping to expect. Expect a perfect connection, a flawless destiny, and the happiest life ever.

When I was in the seventh grade, I got my first calculator. Being a frail student, and unable to understand a few terms of the calculator operation, I remember how my teacher explained to me about Syntax Error.

"Desmond, put something in the place where it doesn't belong, and nothing will work out. That's simple. Syntax Error. Put something that the calculator doesn't understand, and Syntax Error will be the outcome."

Ever since then, I have been able to affix that hypothesis to human life in general.

"So tell me Desmond, do you want to have coffee after class this evening?"

"I would like that. But I'm taken. Like I'm committed."

"So am I," said Isabel as she showed me her ring flashing in her beautiful hand.

Ignore: As long as you forget that you are about to perpetrate, ignore the fact that you have another heart you committed to. That will make things easier, or help you to succeed in being a demon.

Betray: Humans were born to betray. We all betray. Some betray love. Some betray family. Some betray themselves, by dreaming wrong.

Excuse: Explanations are a form of art. Or like Marketing. No end to innovations. Just creativity. Some come up with good excuses and vice versa.

"Do you want to come over my place after this, Desmond?"

"I actually have to sleep."

"Why not at my place? Or maybe in my room?"

Isabel had a syntax error in her life. Her life was a calculator. She injected someone who had been in the wrong her, causing this syntax error to take place. Maybe her life didn't understand that one who gifted her that ring.

As I hugged her a goodbye, her lipstick made a mark on my collar, with the smell of her perfume over my body. Now she has to come up with a good excuse after the ignoring and betrayal, I thought.

"I'm sorry Isabel, I can't come over to your place."

"But I thought we had this connection..."

"What connection? We are committed."

"Everybody betrays. Everybody cheats."

"So did I. By having a coffee with you in the first place."

"You think coffee equals cheating?"

"Not exactly. I think I belong to another calculator. Put me in yours, and you will get a Syntax Error. Some figures were just not made for each other. It's just maths."
