Art of Death

Chapter 1

"You need to stop doing this Jon. It isn't good for your health!" Jon's mother, Tanta, screamed through his bedroom door. Her voice was heavily muffled but due to her aggression it was heard as if she was in his room. "You better not be planning to kill yourself again just to get out of going to school. If you do, God help me, I will kill you myself." Jon could tell his mother wasn't particularly interested in his unnatural power to die at will, less so the power to come back to life, due to Jon's reasoning behind using his power to skip school: He had told her it was to practice for a real situation.

The first tome Jon had used his power, he choked on a glass of water, drowning himself slowly. It was only later that day, when the paramedics arrived, that they proclaimed him to be dead only for Jon to sit up a few minutes later with sever rigor-mortis. His parents did their best to persuade doctors and scientists not to experiment on their child. After a long 2 weeks fighting in court, Jon was allowed freedom under the restriction that he didn't use his power in public or public view. This mattered not to Jon as he preferred to be indoors and only go out if necessary.

It's almost been a month since the court case ended and Jon still refuses to go the school; not because he's scared of using his power or not having control over it, but because he doesn't like the thought of studying to get money when he could use his power. This thought was in his head 24/7, it never left and it never weakened. It stayed prominent and when Jon makes his mind about something he would stick to it for as long as he can.

"If you want what's best for you, go to school!" Tanta began crying. "I don't want you to turn out like Aunt Jaye, with nothing to support you if your first plan fails." Tanta was now sliding down the door, to the floor. "I don't want you to be unsuccessful and die a lonely death. I want you to succeed and live a good life." With those words, Jon decided to go to school.
