Happy town

I finally arrive at my house, Ember trailing behind me. She has been chatting on, and on the whole way.

"Bye," I wave to Ember, as she stutters out a goodbye, then leaves.

Knock.

The knock sounds shrill, and my parents appear within seconds.

While outside the roses are new, and the house looks like it has been freshly painted white, the inside is musty and old. Outside it is wide and open. Inside it's narrow.

I stare at my parents.

They are smiling, and holding hands. I swear they didn't look so happy since-

Wait a second. Ember seemed artificially stoked. The people on they way here waved, and all looked happy.

This town is way too happy. Something is wrong with this town.

My parents show me around, seeming really happy.

My room reveals itself to be smaller than before. The walls have been painted a butter yellow, and there's a pile of books. My books.

I sigh, at least these are the same.

Dumping my suitcase, I grab a tattered book, and start reading it.

Alison Comrade was sitting in her room, her tv playing an anime, while she was eatting popcorn, when it happened. Her mother, with all the beauty of  her. But she was smiling, as she whispered happily-

This isn't right. I read n, and find that each bit which includes sadness, has been changed.

I start breathing heavily.

First day here, and I've already fallen in love, and detected a conspiracy.
