We didn't even know what we were doing. Just a few biologists fresh out of school. The higher-ups talked about adding some "fresh blood" to rejuvenate the science field. Green horns like us didn't questions why we were requested to go to such an uninhabited region. It's not everyday someone gets asked to take an expedition to the Amazon rainforest.
We found out why.
