Chapter Nine ~ Emerald & Sapphire

"You looked great!" I said to Sapphire. Too bad Zhi Kai can't see it. I added silently in my mind.

"Thanks! I'm so excited for my date!" Sapphire cried out happily. She was dressed in a dark blue mini dress with ankle length black boots. Sapphire looked glamorous as well as date-worthy.

"You should go now if not you gonna be late." I told her.

"Yeah hor. I can't be late for my Valentine dinner." Sapphire agreed and picked up her black purse. "Well, bye then."

"Bye!" I waved back as I watched her disappearing figure. Once she was out of sight, I quickly hurried to my room and began to dress up. Ha! I laughed as I rememberes what happened earlier...

~Flashback~

I made sure Sapphire was in the bathroom and could not hear me before dialling the number.

"Hello? Is this Zhi Kai?" I asked, keeping an eye on the bathroom door. Just incase Sapphire does not suddenly burst out in the middle of my plan.

"Yeah. Who's this?" Zhi Kai asked in a suspicious voice. I took a deep breath before speaking. I could not screw this up.

"I'm Emerald. Sapphire wanted me to tell you that she had changed the resturant to the Sushi Resturant." I lied, keeping my voice steady.

"Really?" Zhi Kai exclaimed in surprise. He believed me. I smirked.

"Really. So be there at 7pm sharp, okay?" I said.

There was a short silence as Zhi Kai took in this new piece of information. I was starting to believe that he realised I was lying before he replied me. "Okay."

"Seriously?" I cried out before I caught myself. "I mean, okay. Sure."

"Bye."

"Bye." I hanged up. Stage One success! Next, I called Da Feng. "Hello? Stage Two is yours."

~End Flashback~

I locked the door and dropped the key into my purse. I stepped into the waiting lift and the doors closed. I caught sight of myself in the mirror and smiled. My reflection followed and I took a step back to admire myself. Decked in a short sleeve dark green shirt and black tights with sparkly green pumps, I looked very choi. Perfect for a Valentine Day date.

Ping! The lift doors opened and I stepped out. I strolled to the road and hailed a taxi. In a matter of a few minutes, I reached Hougang Mall. I paid the taxi driver and smiled. "Keep the change." I stepped out of the taxi, feeling like a celebrity.

Only a celebrity is fit for Zhi Kai.

"Where are you?" I muttered, glancing at my watch for the thousandth time in 5 minutes. I said 7pm sharp and it was already 7.31pm.

Just then, a tall shadow loomed above me. "Zhi Kai?" I spun around excitedly. But my hopes crashed immediately when I realised that it was not my boyfriend but his cousin.

"Oh. It's you." I said dejectedly before checking my watch.

"Why so unhappy?" Da Feng asked, sliding into the seat meant for Zhi Kai. I opened my mouth to informed him but closed it. Who cares? Zhi Kai didn't even care about our date enough to arrive on time.

"It's just that it's Valentine Day and Zhi Kai isn't here with me. After all my careful planning and all." I sighed.

"If you ask me, I think that you should forget about my cousin and think about somebody else. Someone worthy of your love." Da Feng advised me and I didn't lost his hidden meaning.

"If you're thinking that I'll leave Zhi Kai because of this small matter, you're wrong. Sibeh wrong." I informed him in a low voice.

"Fine. But at least spend the night with me." Da Feng said.

Let's see. Should I waste my money or enjoy a romantic Valentine Day dinner with my boyfriend's cousin? I pondered for awhile before saying. "Fine."

"Great!" Da Feng said before whipping out a red rose from out of nowhere. "It's a rose representing friendship and nothing else." he added after I hesitated.

"Fine." I snatched the rose out of his hand and Da Feng smiled.

"Waiter!" he called out and a teenager hurried over. We placed our orders and the food arrived soon after. Despite the fact that it was Valentine Day and I should be spending it with Zhi Kai instead of Da Feng, I enjoyed the dinner a lot. Da Feng joked a lot and I laughed at his jokes.

Before long, the dinner end and it was time to part. Da Feng hailed a taxi for me and I got in, followed by him.

"What do you think you're doing?" I asked, surprised.

"You think that I will let you go home alone, arh?" Da Feng replied before turning to the taxi driver. "开车。(Drive the car.)"

Soon, I felt drowsy, wanting to sleep. I laid my head on Da Feng's shoulder, hoping he doesn't mind me doing so. Within minutes, I was in La La Land.

"Sapphire? Sapphire?" someone's voice said while shaking me. Slowly, I opened my eyes and saw Da Feng.

"Where am I?" I asked, still drowsy. I glanced around. Everything looked abit blur but that's probably because of my eyes.

"We're at your house." Da Feng replied.

"Okay." I straightened myself and smiled, "Thanks for bringing me home."

"No problem." Da Feng grinned but kissing me on my cheek. His lips stayed on my cheek for longer than allowed.

When he pulled back, I blushed. Then I saw the backs of Zhi Kai. And another girl.
