Fire. I didn't know what was going on, I just knew that there was fire and lots of it. The entire building was on fire and there was so much smoke. It was making it hard for me to breathe, and I was beginning to feel very lightheaded. The last thing I heard was Mommy screaming out my name before black.
I jolted up in my bed breathing heavily. It was just a dream. Just the same dream I'd been having for as long as I could remember.  Mom and Dad said they had no clue why I would be having dreams like this. I'd never been in a fire, or even come near any sort of flame. Everything we owned was electric and had extra safety measures to ensure fire wouldn't break out. It always seemed a bit overprotective and unfair. I couldn't go camping with friends, or partake in the usual chemistry experiments. If there was fire, the answer was no. Every birthday was spent without candles. I've spent sixteen years without fire.
