Hands -
Hands are such powerful tools. We can do so much with these appendages.
We can push and pull objects, we can lift with them, why, we can even speak with them.
Humans have created a way for those who can't hear or speak to still be able to communicate with the rest of us,
with the power of hands.
But what people don't realize is that hands have another language.
They speak for themselves, as if they have their own mindset.
Hands express the heart, sometimes saying what our mouths cannot.
I myself have done a lot with my hands.
I pick up my fork with my hands, and I twirl it around in my fingers to eat spaghetti.
I tie my shoe laces with my hands, though it is a subconscious process at this point.
I use my hands to hold a pencil when I write words and when I draw.
These things might not seem like words of their own kind, but they are, I promise you.
It's all in the way of the wrist, so to speak.
Did I tell you I love you with a fist
or was it with our fingers intertwining?
Can't you see how happy I am when I lift my palms to the sky,
or when I salute with my arm across my chest?
Is confusion when I don't understand how to use someone elses shower,
or is it when my palm is blankly open as I lay still for hours crying?
With these hands of mine, I have opened myself up to the ones I care about.
With my fingers, I have wiped away the tears from my eyes.
With my hands I have given someone love.
With my hands, I have scratched the pain away from my heart.
I have spend countless hours of my life stareing relentlessly into these hands of mine, wondering
lots of things.
The things I think about most in this time, though, are things like-
...what were my hands doing in that moment?
...what were my real feelings when I flew away from the rest of the world?
...just a second ago, I was _______, and now things are so different.....
...how did things become the way they did?
This is a message to anyone and everyone.
Take time to observe what your hands do when you aren't paying attention.
Maybe you'll surprize yourself, maybe you won't.
Maybe you will be inspired. I can't say anything for sure.
But whatever the result may be, always remember:
You're hands are yours and yours only.
What you do with them is up to you, and once you do something,
it can never be undone.
Make memories with them, learn with them, and grow with them.
Use your hands to reach out, because you have to take the first step at somepoint.
Allow your hands to do as your heart says, and let your will be free.
Let them speak.
