i was starting to forget why i was even drawing at all dnskekakf and suddenly i see it and i remembered every single reason i even started doing this fjeowkskc
shows like flapjack and ed edd n eddy and catdog and fosters home for imaginary friends fjskaodeoqpd especially my life as a teenage robot
they made me feel something that nothing else ive ever experienced can make me feel. Right now i can just use the nostalgia excuse, but when i was little fjrgisowfxae it really did feel like magic. It felt like i was watching actual magic. not because of superpowers or anything, but the way they managed to get me to stare in complete awe. Powerpuff girls, courage the cowardly dog, even chowder likfndkakrg theyve always managed to fill me up with something that i tend to lose easily. If i didnt obsessively watch flapjack as a kid, i promise you i wouldnt be who i am now. that might be a bad thing but thats not the point. These are the shows that managed to change and mold me and make me feel like i really could do so much more. I started drawing because i wanted to be able to do that. I wanted to figure out how to make people feel the way i did. I dont really plan on pursuing a main career in art because i know that its really really challenging and difficult but if i ever got the chance, i wouldnt hesitate to immediately snatch it.
i was the most comfortable, most at piece, when not just watching, but experiencing these shows.
steven universe and adventure time, theyre really great shows, but they cant make me feel the way those other shows managed to. Theres obviously a lot of love and effort put into these shows but it doesnt compare to the cartoons we dont have anymore. Theres a different charm to them. Maybe it was the fact that a lot of them were animated by hand, but theres something more and its not the nostalgia factor.
