“He’s becoming detached, just like we knew would happen; Mr Akerman will be most impressed.” Michael Banter spoke with a flare and a touch of excitement, his bosses would be equally happy but Mr Akerman noticeably more. The faux white board had been in use for a hundred or so years and still was an effective piece of interrogational equipment.
“We should get Lee out of there, she could be in danger...” Amy Chung, lead supervisor of the Australian ASI unit.
“Ms. Chung, I doubt that Depression can manifest people’s state of mind, you’re better off calling him a zombie.” Banter knew less than Chung, it was D-A3 and A4 that weren’t capable of mind manifestation, D-A1 and A2 could manifest; although no known cases had come forward, the disease was so complex and there could possibly be up to forty types... forty mutations.
“Mr Banter, you don’t quite understand the severity of D-A2 do you? Technically stage 3 is one step down from 4, and Mr West could be... changing. I would expect his state of mind to be all over the place, you can see that his heart rate is increasing dramatically... even for a forty-eight year old man he is not showing any symptoms of a stage 3 patient. Mr Banter, he could now be considered stage 4."
Michael’s eyes widened, as Ms. Chung spoke, Lee was in terrible danger; Jack was going to be the first patient to have reached tier 4 and the idea of it scared the shit out of him...

“We need guards now, two if possible...” Banter was worried, if the subject crossed over to stage four; Lee would be in a room with a serial killer. Brain readings fluctuated across the flat screens; the BPM readings had made a sharp upward turn... if they were not quick enough then the subject could go into a self-induced coma or suffer a major heart attack.
“The guards are needed post haste!” Michael yelled at the downstairs intern (only hired the day before) via the intercom while Ms. Chung called her associates, she felt important for once.

“Mr Banter, if you do not get that poor woman out I will have to do it myself!” Ms. Chung stood defiantly at the door, as the subject continued through the fury.
“Ms. Chung I doubt he will hurt her, I mean... he’s in a war with himself, we don’t know what happens if he crosses.” Ms. Chung turned to face Banter.
“It is my responsibility to look after the building’s occupational workers, if he crosses over the 100 BPM mark he will either die or kill Ms. Lee... so what will it be?” Mr Banter dashed his eyes between Ms. Chung’s powerful stance and the situation unfolding in the opposite room, he was at a crossroads...

ASI interview viewing room:
“His head... it’s...” Blood had painted the interview room a new shade; crimson tainted tissue, skin and brain matter matted the once clean tile floors. In the corner Amanda lay shaking, huddled up in a ball not daring to look back at the lopsided headless corpse, still sitting in the chair... the table dripping with blood.
Ms. Chung was speechless, her mouth quivering; all the years she had spent in China’s Medical centers for the Mentally diseased, and never had she seen something so violent and shocking. She knew she wouldn’t be sleeping much from now on, especially when they had found a bloody and dismembered cause... a cause to look into the D-A strains, the revelation made her feel embarrassed to be in the medical field; like Amanda she too was now shaking.
“Okay, why did you need... holy shit!” The two officers looked through the faux blackboard, many euphemisms could be used for such an event... but it would be a dishonor to use any of them.
“I think... Mr Akerman should be contacted straight away.” Ms. Chung spoke.
“I think you’re right...” Mr Banter rebutted.
