Ruby's POV while waking up and getting ready for the sixth grade.
The radio plays as my alarm for school goes off. I press the off button for my alarm and wake up thinking about this new day. I'm back from training with Jack and many thoughts go through my head. Sixth grade is now here and how am I supposed to help? There is hundreds of kids there from sixth to eighth grade. I don't know many people from the other elementary schools. Please show me how to be a light to these students, staff, and anyone you want to put in my path Lord. I get up and put on my school outfit which is black pants with a striped shirt which was the uniform from training that always stuck with me. They prepared us for the field that we were going to be assigned and being in eastern North Dakota this is the best outfit for the cold weather. I get down for breakfast and my family is all downstairs talking amongst themselves. My mom and dad is drinking coffee, my older brothers Jack who was placed in high school along with my brother Jake, who has autism, are eating cereal, and my little sister Rosie is coloring a picture.
"Good Morning Ruby" everyone says when I come down the stairs. Mom asks "are you ready for school?" Yes I replied though I am a bit nervous. Dad says "Let's lift Ruby, Jack, and John up in prayer today." Dad starts to pray "Dear God, our Heavenly Father, thank You for this beautiful day. We want to lift up our children as they start school. Please keep them safe and help them be the light that You want them to be. Amen." Thank you dad I said after the prayer. I really needed that this morning. Alright it is almost eight o' clock mom said. The bus is coming down the street and Ruby you'll be walking this morning. Ok I replied. It isn't too far away from here. My brothers and I leave for school heading in opposite directions I go right to head to school and Jake and Jack head to the bus stop on the left side of the street.
As I start walking to school I start to remember all of the training that I had over the summer with Jack. Remember to keep quiet and out of the way. Don't talk, speak, or get close to those who are not "authorized" on the special list of people we are to interact with during the school year. Help those who are on the list though do not make them dependent on you. Teach these people to make themselves better and in turn help others as well. When will we know who to interact with and the proper method people may ask? We are connected through our training to be given instructions when it is deemed the best time. While I keep walking to school I see more students riding the buses, their parents' cars, and riding their bikes. I head towards the front of the school while hundreds of students of all grades are talking with their friends. I get my instructions to head inside to the cafeteria. Before I get to the main doors I hear people chatting and yelling hi to those around them. I hear a voice saying hi while walking to the doors. I kept going while listening to the connection as I was preparing for the next step. I reached the main doors, shifted my shoulders back and forth once and went to start my first morning as a sixth grader.
