The next day I can't get the fact that I meet Robert Downey Jr last night out of my head. Even during my TV studio lecture, my favourite lecture apart from film studies, my mind keeps wandering back to my random encounter last night. At one point my lecturer had to come over and shake me out of it because the camera I was holding was now pointing at the ceiling instead of the band I was supposed to be recording. I said sorry to my lecturer and the rest of the class and made a conscious effort not to think of Robert until the end of the class.

After class I walked to the Uni library to continue my research on Chaplin. I ended up getting distracted and lost track of time. It’s late once again by the time I snap out of my Chaplin trance, as I have now decided to call it, and head for the exit when I noticed a familiar figure of a man sitting on the sofas at the back of the library. It was Robert. “What's he doing here?” I think to myself. I decided to go over to talk to him as I didn't get the chance to talk to him properly yesterday; plus as I am writing a report about Charlie Chaplin and he has played the guy in a film I decided to seize the opportunity to talk to him about the man he portrayed so well.

“Excuse me Mr Downey?” I say once I walked over to the area he was sitting at.

“Yes?” he says.

“I don't suppose you remember me from last night?”

“Of course I do” he says while smiling. “What can I do for you?”

“Well as you may remember I said I was working on an assignment about Charlie Chaplin; well I was wondering if I could ask you some questions about him as I watched your film Chaplin yesterday so I know you played him. I would really appreciate it”.

“Of course you can” he says while gesturing at the empty seat next to him. I take a seat and get out a notebook and pen.

After about 10 questions I think I have enough information to make my assignment really something special.

“Thank you Mr Downey for taking the time to talk to me, it's been a big help.”

 “No problem Miss...?”

“Oh Hughes” I caught on and said as I remembered I haven't even introduced myself “Maria Hughes, but just call me Maria”.

“Well in that case you can just call me Robert” he said slightly mockingly.

“Well just call me Robert would you mind if I now ask you some un-Chaplin related questions more for personal reasons than academic?”

“Shoot” he said while slightly giggling to himself.

 “How old are you?”

“Oh ok straight to the personal questions huh? Well uh I'm 48.”

“Oh” I say while looking down at my feet

 “Something wrong?”

“No, it's just I didn't think you were such an old man.”

“What did you just call me?” he says with a stern facial expression.

“Oh I'm sorry I didn't mean to offend you but you have to admit you getting on in years. You even let out a noise when you bent down.” Remembering that detail from my encounter last night.
