Loel pulled herself out of bed, outside Cleo was barking like mad, so Loel grabbed the knife she kept hidden. The knife her grandma had given to her for her own protection. Loel scampered down the stairs, a foul stench filled her nostrils, flesh and blood. The metalic scent of blood wasn't hard to miss. At the bottom of the curled stairs lay her mother, pale and bloodied but still breathing, hanging on to her life.
"Mom!" Loel yelled, skipping a step out of unconsiousness and almost falling face-first. She hurtled herself so she was right beisde her mother, pressing against the wound to keep it from bleeding through, not like it hadn't already. "Mom..." Loel whispered again, the cold shudder found in her voice. "Mom, where's Dad? Where's Ellis?" She asked, taking in shaky breath after another shaky breath.
Her mother just stared at her, teary eyed. She was scared, and so was Loel. "Im sorry...." Was all her mother said, she took her hand around her mothers and squeezed, begging in her head, pleading that her mother wouldn't leave her, not again, not after they had been left to fend for themselves for a year. She needed her, more than she was willing to admit.
"Mom, Mom! Please, where are they?" Loel pleaded again, her mother was going to die, her mother was going to leave her. "You have been Chosen....Chosen my dear dear child, by the Moon Goddess herself..." Her mother whispered, shutting her eyes ans opening them again to clear the tears that had been forming.
"Who? What? No mom just keep breathing!" Loel pleaded, she was wondering who did this to her, why they wanted her mother's life taken? Then it hit her, she was not human, neither was her mother, there had been very few legends about the man beasts. Said to be half man half wolf, one look he would be man, but if you angere him, he would be a full wolf, his golden eyes peering into your soul. He woukd rip you to shreds.
Then there were nicer ones, of whole packs banded together, caring for each other. Was her mother one of them, was that what she meant when she would talk about them so frequently and so dearly, so loyaly? But that didn't tell her why they wanted her mother dead. "My dear sweet Loeloek, run, run and never look back. It is not safe here, they will find you... Find the Moon Pack, tell them of me and that you are my daughter, they will tell you everything" was her mothers last words, that confirmed it the Moon pack. She was a werewolf, the word sounded so cliche but at the same time so fitting.
Loeloek was her full name, bestowed like a blessing, in fact that is exactly what it meant. A blessing from the Gods, or at least thats what her mother told her, she depended on her mother, more because her father wasn't ever there. "Mom, no please, I can't leave you...-" loel was cut off but the squeeze of her mothers cold, pale hands. "Run...now...they will come back and look for you next" her mothers eyes glazed over moments later, before Loel could make any sense of what was happening she was releasing her mothers hand, standing up, and looking out the door.
It was wide open, wide, wide open. It was night time, yet she hadn't noticed yet. She was scared beyond wits, she needed Cleo, wait- Cleo! Nearly forgetting the knife she scrampled outside, Cleo was very well alive, and she was on alert, like she trusted nothing. Not even a sly mouse. "Cleo come here" loel whispered, the australian shepherd came running into her arms without a second thought. She two was shooken by the current event.
"Youe going to stay with Keesen, she will watch you while im gone. Im sorry Cleo you can't come with me, it's too dangerous" Loel cooed as calmly as she could, her cheeks were probably tear stained, and she probably looked horrible. But it would have to do, she needed to grab a few thimgs before heading out though.
She headed back inside the house, carefully to step over her mothers now dead body, she couldn't even bare to look at it. She would probably start bawling her eyes out again. "Come on girl" loel whispered as she ran up the stairs and to her room, she grabbed her travel bag and shoved only things she would need.
A water bottle, no knowing how long it would be. A few food subtiles, clothes, and her phone. She needed to call her dad, she needed to know where Ellis, her little sister was.
Rushing to pull the bag over her shoulder she ran down the stairs, almost falling more than once. When she passed her mother again she realized there was something underneath her. A picture of her, her father, her mother and Ellis" Where were they? She didn't dwell on the question, even though she wanted too, she took the picture, put it in her bag, and she was off, Cleo scaredly following behind her...
(:...:)time skip
Loel had arrived at Keesen's cabin, swarmed by other cabins in the small village. She had explained why and what she was doing, dropped Cleo off, almost cried in the process, them forced herself to leave. She needed to get as much ground as she xould in the next few days, and it gave her time to think about what she wouls do once she dound this supposed Moon pack. She didn't even know anyone, never the less knew if any of them were nice.
But if her mother knew someone there, someone who could help her than thats all she needed to know. She would do what hee mother said, no matter how ridiculous it sounded in her head. She would not have her mother die in vain, she would do what her mother asked and let her heart become free.
That was her task
That was her...task
She needed it done...
What was she walking into?
Oh well, she would have to see.
